  2. Speaking of Famous Door, this is another Doozy: It features Hank Jones and Papa Jo Jones on side 1 and Jimmy Rowles and Donald Bailey on side 2.
  3. I rip to VBR Q0. It results in smaller files than CBR 320 mbps and I cannot hear the difference.
  4. Dear friends. I think there are some who know a bit about my musical activities, for those who don´t know: I am an Austrian jazz pianist and composer and currently lead a band of some of the best players on the scene here. We had our debut album last year and meanwhile I continue composing new stuff for our next album, we go to the record studio in 2 months and the new CD/Vinyl will be out early next year. Here I wanna bring you a youtube video of one of our latest concerts. We played a mix of standards, some stuff from the first album and .....what the audience, my fellow musicians and me liked most of all, some taste about what will be on the upcoming record: Please listen: Track list: First tune: Sweet Love of Mine (Woody Shaw) at 9.44: Bebop Airlines (original from 1st album) at 18.31: My Ideal: THIS has symbolic caracter for me since the nice lyrics became truth for me 2 days after that gig. I met that stunning wonderful girl "Miss RA", she has the name of the Egyptian God of the Sun, and of course Sun RA, and what can I wish more. Since then, that ballad is kinda torch song for just us two......... at 26.27: I like New York (how about you?) at 33.25 "Simmering" (THIS will be the title track of our new album) Listen to this, it´s really the stuff I´m focussed on now !!!!!! At 39.18 "Sir Uli" (THIS will be on our upcoming album: my dedication to our bass player. It´s a bass feature, based on the chords of "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams". That´s a more old fashioned tune, but nice..... At 45:00 "Tune for Pharoah"...(THIS will also be on the upcoming album: My whole credo is in that composition, what I feel, what I think, and being very aware of the Master who made me think and feel that way: Pharoah Sanders, my idol ! at 54:00 "Evidence": Everybody has a lotta fun with this, we really romp on it I think...... at 100: Actually the encore: My trumpet player called it, it´s also from the first album from last year the second encore is just a slow "Blue Monk", also called by my trumpet player...... ENJOY IT !
  5. Didn't know about the Eric Alexander pre-release. Might have picked that up also. Is there a specific reason you want download as Wav and then convert to mp3, rather than just dl as mp3 from Bandcamp in the first place? I don't dl as much as I probably ought to, but when I do, it is as 320 mp3s.
  6. Now spinning: Various Artists - The Panassié Sessions (RCA Victor, rec. 1938-39) Sidney Bechet!!! Glorious Mal.

  8. Well it was enjoyable to find out that the Yankees trio of just-acquired relievers each failed in their shocking collapse in Miami last night but in the bigger scheme of things, this is way worse: The Sox two best starters in 2024, Tanner Houk and Kutter Crawford, both now undergoing the knife, with Houk looking at TJ surgery. And taking place August of an already lost season, he is surely done for all of 2026 too. This on top of another emerging starters, Dobbins, being lost to an ACL tear that will surely keep him out to mid-season next year at best. The GM has to look at starting pitching in November.

  10. Consistent with the Bandcamp theme.... https://redrecords.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-umbria-jazz https://jimmygreene1.bandcamp.com/album/as-we-are-now https://aaronparksmusic.bandcamp.com/album/little-big https://aaronparksmusic.bandcamp.com/album/little-big-ii-dreams-of-a-mechanical-man
  11. It's only one quartet (the 4th) not a set, but the Zehetmair quartet recording is stunning. They are in some ways the contemporary equivalent of the classic era Juilliard quartet - fiercely individual and orginal, astonishingly virtuosic and treat modern and classical repertoire as the same sort of material.
  12. I stumbled across autographed CD's of Joey DeFrancesco - 'Project Freedom' and Buck Hill - 'Capital Hill'. Autographs don't really do anything for me, so If either or both of these are of interest to you, let me know what you would be willing to send me that consider a fair trade for them, and we'll see what we can get done. Both autographs are on the front of the CD booklets. The DeFrancesco is his signature in black sharpie, the Hill says "To Woody Buck HIll 1992 in black thin line sharpie. PM if interested, thanks.
  13. Found these two LPs earlier today at a local shop: and
  14. Had a "newbie" who has never posted here who then pointed me to a "friend", who wanted to charge me for a scan of the booklet and get me into a negotiation on price. Beware of similar tactics coming your way.
  15. Frankie Trumbauer and his Orchestra “1927-1928” Chronogical Classics cd BIX!!
  16. I'm familiar with what you're describing with some DG vinyl. I think the CD issue does indeed sound better.
  17. I remember it was a very warm evening and the venue's windows were open, at one point EP mimicked the sound of a police car as it went by. I just checked the prices for the CD, they've crept up I see There's some good players on that, Innanen and Iskola I have come across elsewhere
