  2. Granted, one of the prettiest pictures of a toolbox I've ever seen. Whoever was in charge of the lighting, nailed it. But wait, no ladders, backhoes, earthmovers, bull dozers, cherry pickers, foremen? Who's in charge here? I want to speak to the manager.
  3. What a batch of music. Excellent listining, period.
  4. Holy Ghost

    Anthony Braxton

Braxton, Dolphy and Ayler in no particular order.
  5. Today
  6. Been a bit fan of theirs since the beginning, too. All the new boxes are also great! Saw them last month here in SF, too.
  7. Can't go wrong with Big John! Was listening to some John Hicks today: Rhythm-A-Ning (w/Kenny Barron, Walter Booker, Jimmy Cobb), and Power Trio (w/Elvin & McBee) Tonight's listen
  8. I like that Noah Howard. I have the CD reissue.
  9. that's awesome!
  10. I have more live Rahsaan '70s recordings than I need, but this one is primo. This is an excellent reissue.
  11. Was Keepnews involved in that?
  12. The worst thing about it is that Pablo (1) did not consult with expert Coltrane discographers like Wild before issuing the set and (2) did not make corrections even after they were confronted with convincing evidence of the mistakes.
  13. Betty Roche's Singin' & Swingin'
  14. This, and I will add Bud as another contributatory influence on Hawes. Plus, I think that Bud and Tatum are closer than Hawes and Newborn. Those two paths continued to diverge. That church thing came to play. Some people are REALLY fond of the David Axelrod stuff, but ..not me. Yet there it is
  15. There was an article in disc'ribe, the magazine Michael Cuscuna and David Wild ran at the time of their Coltrane discography, that already stated there were no tapes to be found.
  16. No, the Prestige had a quartet session with Larry Bunker von vibes.
  17. Is this the session on Prestige, along with a Freddie Redd session?
  18. Yesterday
  19. Craving some jazz vocals. Etta Jones' From the Heart. Lots of highlights here. Good Morning, Heartache is beautiful. There's not one that I don't enjoy
  20. Holy Ghost

    Anthony Braxton

Polarizing. WOW. Dortmund (1976) changed everything (for me). When I was studying bass clarinet in my early teens, and heard this, this record stopped me straight in my tracks, and I never played the same since.
