Well then I guess at some point I'll get sick. Fact is that I haven't been ill since just before Covid officially became a thing. And that includes one if not two bouts with it for my wife. My contribution of things that suck about getting old: Normal every day motions that cause pain, sometimes of the enduring kind. I stepped out of the car and walked into the grocery story feeling like something was "off". A quick stretch before walking inside confirmed some minor back spasm. A little bit of pain for a couple of days, ceased exercise for a week out of an abundance of caution. Three weeks later I was trying to get two large bags of frozen chicken into the same shelf in the freezer, sort of bent over, knees bent, shaking them and shoving them and the worst back spasm of my life. Obviously damaged three weeks before and not fully healed. Continued to spasm several times a day for two days after that. Muscle relaxants did nothing, same for the pain pills. The day after I could not get out of bed on the first try, barely rose to a standing position with the firmness of the corner of the bed and iron bed frame for support, and two hours after I tried muscle relaxants a friend had.

Another thing - the flu hits so much harder the older you get. I've been very sick for almost 5 days now. I used to be one of those people who got really sick for one day and then I was back at it. Used to drive my wife crazy that I got over colds/flu so quickly. Of course, maybe I should give the current strain of Influenza A some credit here?

Right. KeyNOTE, not Keystone. My head must have been somewhere in the rafters of a medieval Cathedral on that one. I figured the Electrola issue was simply a quick European issue of the American Victor recording. I stand corrected. Still seems to me the tune must have changed titles sometime in '45.

My favorites include: My current go-to recording for the late piano works, Opp. 116-119. Mostly chamber works -- but the solo piano works are sublime. This is the only complete set that I own. An excellent traversal. I've never heard a better interpretation of the Balladen, Op. 10.

I just returned from travelling last night, but saw the sad news about Paul before I left. He was a great human, a knowledgeable (and fun!) board member, and I feel lucky to have met him in person in Colorado two years ago. His spirit in person was the same as it was here on the board and on Facebook over the years. Doing this one last time - gonna miss you my frienD! your spIrit, Calm strength and Knowledge will stay in my tHoughts and mEmories Always anD forever. Rest in Peace, Paul.

Any particular favorite recording/pianist? I'm presently looking at the 6-cd set with Julius Katchen on London.

Thanks. I listened to 6 again. I think it could be Steve Wilson on alto. But maybe the pianist is the leader, since they solo first and have some freedom on the head. How about Bruce Barth? I think he likes these kinds of arrangements. Maybe I'll take another listen to 16 but I don't have any of Billy Pierce's music.
