  2. Cold again. More snow and lower temperatures coming, it just started to snow again. Winter! Starting off with “Howard McGhee - Introducing The Kenny Drew Trio” from the Blue Note cd Connoisseur 10" series

  4. Ts find, on Music and Arts label, fine find ...
  5. Thanks. I have those Kenny Cox albums with Spencer (though I couldn't have named him), but nothing Rodby shows as playing on (though I do have some of the Eliane Elias albums where he has production credits). Yeah, I much prefer 1978 Joe Henderson to his "popular" years on Verve. And I agree with you on Brackeen, who is such a strong pianist.

  7. I used to order from them. I stopped when our post office wouldn't deliver without a signature & i'd have to make a 20 mile roundtrip to pickup at the postoffice. With tariffs & shipping charges I don't even try.
  8. Exactly (emphasis added). I only know of his playing with Metheny.
  9. Joe Henderson in 1978 may not have enjoyed the widespread popularity he later achieved, but I believe he was in excellent form as a player. Also, Joanne Brackeen was at her peak. Personally, when I think of Steve Rodby, I recall him playing electric bass on Pat Metheny's best albums. However, it seems he originally played acoustic bass. I've heard a live recording of Joe Henderson in France from around the same time (November 1978), and Rufus Reid was on bass for that session (same pianist and drummer). Since Rodby was the house bassist at the Jazz Showcase, he might have been filling in for Reid. Danny Spencer wasn't particularly distinctive, but he was a competent drummer.

  11. Thanks. News to me. It'll probably get shown around here and I intend to see it.
  12. Steve Rodby has been around for a while: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Rodby Danny Spencer was the drummer on the Kenny Cox Blue Note sides. Steve Rodby has been around for a while: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Rodby
  13. I just realized that the International Phonograph reissue of this came out *15* years ago. Damn, time doesn't fly, it's more like now you see it, now you don't.
  14. And by a bass player I've never heard off. But I'm also all in anyways! The bigger fear for me is the drum solos.
  15. No non-USA sellers are good options for us right now due to tariff craziness on top of already greatly increased shipping costs. I used to order from JazzMessengers fairly regularly several years ago - they do a great job and had excellent prices.
  16. Here's hoping for as complete a box as possible. I am not excited about buying excerpts, only to have a larger set issues a year later.
  17. Thanks, Romualdo! I actually downloaded at lot of that first session somewhere online. I can't remember where. I don't have any of the second session, where I presume the pending Giant Steps and Satellite are coming from.
  18. Mel Brooks - The 99 year Old Man ,(HBO. Pts 1 & 2)
