Well, you certainly started off on a great note. Track #1 is the third track on this. Perhaps my favorite album of his. Track #2 hits that nice Blue Note kind of groove, but the clean sound quality says it's probably of the digital age. Trumpeter's nice and relaxed, alto is in a Cannonball vein. Relaxed yet driving.

I asked Cory Weeds about this bonus material, as I thought it was already released on CD in 2004 on his Cellar Live label as "You'll See! - The Anniversary Quartet Live At The Cellar" & quickly deleted due to some contract issue. I asked him how it can be said to be "the first time available digitally". He said, "To my knowledge that 2004 recording was never made available digitally. I don’t even think digital was really around at that time so this will be the first time that the record is available digitally". So basically Cory's not calling an optical disc of 1's & 0's "digital". To his credit, this will be the first time this material will be available to stream or download, but it has been available, albeit briefly, on CD already. FWIW, this 2-CD set is worth picking up just for this 2004 material alone. It was a great CD release and I was disappointed that it was pulled so quickly. This was the cover of that CD: - Today

Long long ago, I recall seeing Rich Perry with the Thad Jones Jazz Orchestra. Thad Jones and Mel Lewis had a quartet gig at a club in Rochester,New York. I was in the audience when unannounced in walked Rich Perry. He was free that evening so Rich came sit in with Thad's Quartet. Thad welcomed him and it was a terrific musical evening. While my Rich Perry CD inventory is not as large as Ken's, It nonetheless is quite extensive.

Ah I didn’t notice they will come out in these series. I’ve got a few of them and they are excellent. No silly limited edition kind off stuff but very well done and affordable reissues.

Kenny Barron's trio with guest vocalist Tyreek McDole played a wonderfully intimate set. Maybe not the most intimate setting, but that's ok. A really tight group, and Barron continues to have the ability to weave really long lines. Plus, I want to know where Jonathan Blake shops for shirts! The one word that nobody seems to ever use to describe James Carter is UNAPOLOGETIC And God bless him and his band for that. It was aggressively unapologetic 313, and it was some of the most spiritually nourishing music I've felt in years.

I don't recall Analogue Productions ever releasing this album. I believe it's the Music Matters 45 that you have, correct?

Saw Mike LeDonne and Eric Alexander at the Jazz Bistro last night. Some really great music. LeDonne was on organ and really went wild on a few numbers. They were selling a double CD due to come out in a few days, which comes with an unreleased set from 2004! With the same line-up! I managed to get Eric to sign a copy but not Mike. Will be swing by the Rex a few times in Sept., and indeed I might go tonight or tomorrow to see Mike Murley, but not sure just yet. In a few weeks there is a Coltrane tribute with Kirk MacDonald and Pat LeBarbara, and I'll want to go see that once or twice, and indeed I probably ought to reserve a spot for later in the week, as this often sells out... The new CD is on Bandcamp but not officially out for a few more weeks: https://mikeledonnegrooverquartet.bandcamp.com/album/turn-it-up-live-at-the-sidedoor
