    Joe Henderson

    Up for good Thanksgiving reading.
  4. I wonder whatever became of the "deluxe" edition of this live session. It'd be great to have the 5-track version of the album available digitally. In the meantime, we still have "Junk Blues": And...does anyone else hear Coltrane's "Alabama" in the melody of "Junk Blues"?

  6. I never get anywhere trying to sell any of my Mosaic sets, so I've essentially quit trying.
  7. Seems everybody here has all of this music.

  10. I had them in various boxes, thrown into storage in the order acquired (after I ripped them to disk). It was a jumble. I had to move so I took the opportunity to reorganize my storage and get all the sets sorted in order.
  11. Are all those box sets 'inbound' or 'outbound' for a new assignation?

  13. Author Sue Miller plays flute and has her own charanga in Britain. She concentrates on that style, much about Eddie Plamieri, Rolando Lozano and the like.
  14. I don't have the set, but have LPs by a number of the artists featured. I don't think you could go wrong at the price Tom. This thread covers a lot of ground:
  15. Thanks you so much. Very happy with this news
  16. Thanks to @cayetano Frederiksberg Records, based in Brooklyn, New York, is preparing for a 50th-anniversary reissue of the Charles Tyler Ensemble's album *Voyage From Jericho*, to be released on January 23, 2026. Recorded in July 1974 at Studio Wee in New York City and originally released in 1975 by Akba Records, this historic session showcases the group led by saxophonist Charles Tyler (1941-1992) pushing boundaries with intense improvisations, a spiritual side, and raw emotion. Along with top-tier collaborators—including Arthur Blythe, Earl Cross, Ronnie Boykins, and Steve Reid—Tyler shapes a sound where the intensity of free jazz and a poignant depth, celebrating freedom and expression, coexist. This release comes with a 28-page booklet that includes previously unreleased photos, as well as detailed notes by critic, researcher, and essayist Cisco Bradley. This is such great news. Heard this one for the first time only a year ago and fell in love immediately. Such raw and pure energy. Great band as well. So good I was seriously considering saving up money to buy an original in the end. This one will do fine: apparently deluxe version and according to our own @clifford_thornton from the tapes and with consent of the Tyler estate. Looking forward to this!
  17. Offered for sale is a great, and quite uncommon, box set. It took me a long time to find a copy of this title but it is now time for me to downsize my collection and let someone else enjoy it. I am listing this cheaper than any complete box set currently listed for sale from a U.S. seller on discogs or eBay. And I am listing it close to what I paid for it myself about 5 years ago. Joe Henderson: The Milestone Years 8 CD, Milestone, 1994 Outer box, CDs, jewel cases, and booklet, are all in Near Mint to Excellent condition with just some shelf wear to upper corners of outer box and a black marker line through the bar code on lower rear cover of outer box. All CDs play perfectly. https://www.discogs.com/release/2045209-Joe-Henderson-The-Milestone-Years $130 (+ $10 insured media mail shipping). U.S. shipping only Payment by pay pal friends/family
  18. The last few years I've been very curious about the Jazz scene outside the US. Mostly from the era from the 1950s- '1970s. I have explored some recordings from Sweden, Poland, Germany Japan, etc. While I do have some Tubby Hayes and a few other British artists, I was kind of curious. I see this particular box set and was interested in other people's input. Is this something I should be also considering? https://a.co/d/b986BR5
