  1. Past hour
  2. CD's been repressed. I just went for it.
  3. Wasn't it all out previously on Theresa LP's and Evidence CD's?
  4. How about the Bay Area? Thanks!
  5. I'm all too familiar with that. Public transport there was good the last time I went. Buses were dependable and the drivers were friendly when help was needed but that was all pre COVID.
  6. There are some interesting recordings on the Entropy Stereo label. I recently discovered Griot Galaxy / Faruq Z Bey, so much of the catalog got my attention. I noticed these on DG's website but ordered direct from the label, which has free shipping on CDs. Their website is worth perusing: https://entropystereo.com/catalog.html (Griot Galaxy Live at the DIA - 2 cd)
  7. The choice of chords on this gets my melting point:
  8. You should be fine. The LP set will likely disappear before the cd set.
  9. Today
  10. A few years ago, my son picked up this album in a thrift store and then gave it to me: LP 1
  11. Thanks. It will be work and the usual dread conference centre that follows these things in some US cities, but I'm hoping to get out and about.
  12. Understood on all counts. It's just that in terms of contexts, that cut is a bit of an outlier?
  13. Been to SD several times and love it (Point Loma seafood is excellent) but never record shopped. I see online they seem to have some good places. Hopefully accessible during your visit.
  14. Prompted by @jazzbo's post above: The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Art Blakey's 1960 Jazz Messengers (Mosaic, 1992) Disc 3: This disc contains (most of) the tracks released on Roots & Herbs, along with a few others.
  15. Red Garland, Ron Carter, Philly Joe Jones
  16. Yes, and it sounds really good in this UHQCD version. Now Helen Merrill “Casa Forte” Mosaic cd
  17. Your wife has good ears! I may have purchased a pair of Magnepan speakers if circumstances were different. They do indeed sound amazing. But, since they are so large, they really don't fit in my room.
  18. Such a fantastic record!
  19. One more 85th Anniversary Blue Note Japan UHQCD: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers “Roots and Herbs”
  20. Maybe vice versa as well.
  21. Now listening to works from Ashkenazy's excellent Sibelius cycle. Disc 1 from this set: Wonderful interpretations and immaculate Decca SQ. That looks interesting, Chuck. What do you think of it? I'm only familiar with Rott's symphony. IIRC, he wrote only one, right?
  22. Mercury is now owned by UMG. (I've always liked that record-- I've always felt that playing with Trane upped Cannonball's solos.)
  23. I'll take: Jamal ,Khan Sounds of Liberation (New Horizons) $20 Byard Lancaster, Monnette Sudler Jamal, Khan Drum Dance to the Motherland $15 Monnette Sudler Thanks
