  2. OK, here's the most epic one of Kansas City that I know of... Jimmy Witherspoon With Jay McShann And His Band – Goin' To Kansas City Blues And after a LOT of digging around on DIscogs (simply searching on 'Pittsburgh' - and scrolling through pages and pages of results), this might be the only(?) jazz album I can find with an actual pic of downtown PGH on the cover... Frank Cunimondo – Frank Cunimondo Plays George Benson Live In Concert – Vinyl (LP, Album, Stereo), 1978 [r9325057] | Discogs Seems to have been a local guy, best I can tell. It's been on CD too -- but the cover looks way too 'CD modern' for my taste -- but I'm looking for LP covers anyway (if I'm gonna hang any). Every release on that same label is by Cunimondo -- so it's essentially a private label then... Mondo Records Inc. | Discogs Here's the cover of the CD reissue...
  3. I'm a big fan of Savage Night by James Thompson.
  4. Although I have read my share of mysteries over the years, my preference really is for crime fiction that does not feature the overworked "who done it" formula. In my younger days I liked the James Bond novels, early Forsyth, early Ludlum, etc. That was more espionage stuff, but I think these days I would prefer more "noirish" works--James M. Cain and work in that vein. I also like Elmore Leonard, though I have not read much of his work. I am looking for atmosphere and suspense--not so much mystery.
  5. Mal and Sonny Stitt in 1979. Definitely could be interesting though I prefer to hear Mal with more ‘out’ musicians. I’d buy it anyway to keep that Waldron collection complete….
  6. It’s very good. Clear and well balanced. Tyler in the left and Cross in the right. Nice bass. Definitely sounds like it comes from the tapes by o believe that was already confirmed
  7. interesting. I need to figure out how to create more room...
  8. wow this exceeds expectations. Truly a monumental reissue. The 25 page booklet comes with a fascinating essay and info on Tyler and beautiful photographics. Sonics are great. It’s only January but this could be definitely reissue of the year already. Piece of art. Hype sticker quotes some guy called Clifford Allen. Anyone around here know who that is? 😜 great to see you were involved in this project! A track like return from the east defines what Freejazz is to me.
  9. What's interesting is that the newly announced Giant Steps and Satellite are quite a bit longer than the versions mentioned in the Coltrane reference... So if it's the same gig, it's a better, more complete tape... (If you think about it, it's actually strange that all tracks mentioned in that entry are marked incomplete, maybe this is some sort of edited version that made it into the reference)

  12. Probably not but it won't be Gene Harris instead of Brackeen so ... I'm out. <green smilie here>
  13. I have the International Phonographic 2LP reissue which is so great!
  14. It would be interesting to hear (among others) "Equinox," "Mr. Syms," "Body and Soul," and "Spiral." I guess some of these were cut off..."Spiral at 1'47."
  15. I need to catch up with an order, having not ordered from them in a long time. What would be some recommended records of recent years? I have only 2 of the Sam Rivers series (2 and 3) and could get more of those (or the complete box on LP). Thank you!
  16. Given Zev's track record, are we sure about the personnel? Anyway, I am in for the CD version.
  17. I would add: some of us are hardly lacking for MULTIPLE COPIES of the same Coltrane material
  18. Nice pic G. Found this today online:
  19. Pinduca – Carimbó E Sirimbó Do Pinduca
