  1. Past hour
  2. I watched and enjoyed the first season, have the other two, will have to get around to watching them sometime soon. Currently enjoying Pierce in "Elsbeth."
  3. From the article… “Another part of the translated text describes a dialogue between characters, in which Plato shows disdain for the musical and rhythmic abilities of a barbarian musician from Thrace, according to the statement.” I’m sure we can all sympathize, one way or another — which I suppose depends on whether you’re a barbarian or not.
  4. I went to a local record show today & came home with a nice haul. All vinyl, all used (except for one). The three that I'm most excited to have found: Harold Ousley - The People's Groove (Muse, 1977) Promo copy Toquino - Tocando (Philips, 1977) Brazilian release Sunny Murray's Untouchable Factor - "Apple Cores" (Philly Jazz, 1978) Sealed reissue
  5. I thought Pierce was entirely convincing as a musician - I guess that's why it's considered good acting.
  6. Today
  7. Claudio Simonetti's Goblin - Suspiria (Rustblade) A new recording of the classic Goblin score! On blue vinyl!
  8. I love books and buy them (though often used), but find it hard to set aside time to read. And a lot of the reading I do get done is semi-required for my volunteer work.
  9. I give about 100 books each year as Christmas presents. I like to give cookbooks to the various women in my life, because cookbooks can be feminine without being a romantic gesture. Most of these cookbooks are about cookies or chocolate. The guys get books about backyard grilling or hot sauce. I give teens interesting stories to read, so that they will discover the joy of reading for pleasure rather than under compulsion (schoolwork). Who knows? Maybe I am the only person giving books to these people!
  10. Goblin - Profondo Rosso OST (Rustblade) Half soundtrack, half live recordings of the soundtrack from more recent decades. On red vinyl, natch!
  11. The photo of the session seems to be reversed from the music.
  12. Yes indeed. Contemporary had excellent live recordings. Its a favorite label I have colleted for many years beside Pacific Jazz/World Pacific
  13. You mean the Sabu album? That is killer! It sounds very ahead of its time to my ears, like proto-bugalu in places.
  14. https://www.livescience.com/archaeology/romans/platos-burial-place-finally-revealed-after-ai-deciphers-ancient-scroll-carbonized-in-mount-vesuvius-eruption
  15. Oscar Peterson - The woefully mistitled Soul Espanol (Limelight, stereo)
  16. I was a big fan. Couple of New Orleans friends of mine worked on it.
