  1. Did you get a crushed one? My copy is like that but I still have 5 fresh copies in house.
  2. Not a bunch between Raney and Bailey for me. Sorry if I missed some friends.
  3. Must say after bebop and the white blues eras, I have little interest in solo guitar with a couple of exceptions. Sigh.
  4. I posted these on Facebook today: We go back a ways.
  5. Hope to see y'all on the other side.
  6. In the 21st Century I am discovering more interesting women players than men.
  7. I still remember the day those master tapes (and the tapes for an unissued album) arrived at Delmark/JRM. Within a couple of hours we were in Bob Koester's apartment on Wabash and Grand listening to the tapes.
  8. As I understand, their Ayler program was wiped immediately.
  9. The first time I encountered the name was the Columbia lp called "Modern Jazz Concert" with pieces by George Russell, Jimmy Giuffre, Milton Babbitt, Gunther Schuller and Charles Mingus. His composition called "On Green Mountain" was so simplistic I never looked for more by him. "Mountain Greenery" is another issue.
  10. I do not care. Nothing is changed in my world. If it changes your world, deal with it.
  11. That's an interesting one.
  12. No problems here on any of my devices. Anyone have this problem on Apple machines?
  13. I love that record - mostly because it was stolen from my freshman dorm room in 1962 and during summer break I attended a concert in Des Moines by Shelly Manne and his men. After the concert I went to Conte and said I like the record but it was gone. He invited me back to the Hotel Des Moines where he and Russ Freeman met me in the lobby with a fresh copy of the record.
  14. Different versions for different reasons. 1. Jeno Jando because he just plays the music. 2. Edwin Fischer 'cause I like it. 3. Gould just 'cause it's Gould Yes, all of these are piano performances, so shoot me.
  15. Certainly not first choice, but fascinating.
  16. It can be a complicated process trying to follow the "Conversations" to the "Discussions" and "Ride the Wind". I had the advantage of the first incarnation of this work by attending the first versions with the Iceland Symphony in April 2016, and all is not clear to me. But I feel the music is amazing. FWIW, "Ride the Wind" was recorded a month before "Discussions". Our recording was delayed primarily by the slow process of mixing/editing via email and Dropbox between the studio in Toronto, me in Whitehall and Roscoe touring the world.
  17. her nibs, Miss Georgia Gbbs.
  18. couple hundred miles for me.
  19. Thank god no one has to pay real money to the creators.
