  1. I will sign on when there are downloads of the Clyde Bernhardt (and his Kansas City Buddies) and Alamo Markham sessions. I only have half of the material. Then they could start on the 2 Jimmy Shirley sessions.
  2. North American "ownership" of the jazz titles is hazy as I read the stories. Could still reside with BN.
  3. Seems sincere to me. Please say thank you.
  4. I guess he served a purpose for some folks but I have negative vibes and experiences from a few years ago. I am sure he meant well when he started but.................
  5. Just got home. Might add something about Augie later but I need to unwind.
  6. Thanks for the 2 I got. I should be home Monday and might order more. No time for consideration now.
  7. The "artist awards" are $275,000 and the "impact awards" are $80,000. Not a small sum in most folks lives.
  8. Thanks but the real news concerns Randy, Roscoe, Craig and the others. Sorry the lead was buried (with my mother in law)!
  9. http://ddpaa.org/ Ann's mother died a few days ago so I might have missed mention but this was around over a week ago.
  10. Bechet - Spanier Big Four and the Delta Four with Roy Eldridge and Joe Marsala.
  11. Ah........... I have no idea who you used to be on some other board.
  12. Not true and this is your problem. Paradigms are indeed tough to break out of if you can't ignore the remaster folks and take care of yourself and folks enjoying the same (even if they like remasters). Get rid of the chip and find some friends.
  13. I guess we are the only ones. Also Joe Maneri, John Law, Jon Lloyd, Denis Charles, Brotzmann Tentet and Die Like a Dog quartet, John Lindberg's great black saint recordings, Mujician's classic recordings, etc. But I wonder how many people here have even listened to much of the great 90's music. Not many I think. Too busy realistening to the next issue of whatever No Try No Fail, baby Way too snarky. you really come across as an ignorant ****. Relistening can lead you ahead some times. Listening for the first time can give you context.
  14. I heard the tapes, including Early Morning Stroll 30+ years ago in Nils Winther's house. Memory says it might be interesting in context with the mass of Hank's work, but really adds nothing. Let it go and give Nils credit for giving Hank a chance.
  15. Haven't seen him in a number of years. He was an exceedingly nice man.
  16. Thanks for the link.
  17. Not a bad price for a 2 disc set.
  18. Oh, hell yes, forgot about this some how, definitely a favourite. I will never forget - I was at a drunken campus party circa 1962 and spotted the lp on the floor, out of the jacket and the crowd was dancing on it. In my stupor, I rescued the badly scuffed record and went on a search for the jacket. After about 15 minutes I found it and ran home with my treasure. Never felt good or bad about my actions, but loved having some version of the music no matter how battered.
  19. Are they STILL your favourites, Chuck? I never got 'Star bag' until 1996, but I'd still put that in with other stuff I bought at the time. MG I still think they are wonderful recordings and listen to them. Nice to see my favorites from back then still hold up for me. I could have added Blakey's BN record of "A Night In Tunisia" and "Jazz Samba".
  20. No wonder I couldn't find it!
  21. Thinking back to my school days, these were most often on the turntable. Mal Waldron "The Quest" Steve Lacy "Evidence" John Coltrane "Africa Brass" Ornette Coleman "Town Hall 1962" Duke Ellington "Afro-Bossa"
