  1. I was impressed with his Martinu series on Hyperion.
  2. Follow your instinct or steal a burn of the Gambit. I only buy those as cut-outs.
  3. Totie Fields Alvin Fielder Mrs Fields
  4. I was in contact with Ross Russell in the mid '70s when the Spotlites were being issued. He claimed to own, and have the masters for the classical material. We were working towards me repressing these recordings and suddenly Ross disappeared. He was busy dealing in Krugerrands at the time. We were exchanging records at the time - he was intrigued by Von Freeman.
  5. It is in better sound than you might expect. A worthwhile package. Willie Dennis was part of the Tristano crew in the '50s. He's on the Ronnie Ball Savoy date with Ted Brown.
  6. Great news. I haven't listened to it in a while. I will dig it out when I get back home.
  7. A similar Dial box was issued in Japan a few years ago. It had some nice cover reproductions too.

  12. Yes, Ann and I leave in the morning for a road trip to visit friends old and new. The concert in Hartford with Stephen Haynes and Joe Morris was the impetus and we expect it to be a highlight. Thanks to the musicians for the opportunity. Looking forward to seeing friends, musical and otherwise on the journey. Whitehall, Cleveland, Gettysburg, Woodstock, Hartford, etc....

  15. There you go! He also "made" Mode for Joe". I remember this playing and Bill Dixon wanted to know who the drummer was.
  16. Wish I still had those Nighthawk lps.
  17. While in my last year of high school I took a chance on a record because of the cover shot of a "crazed musician". It was a clear/yellow vinyl pressing in stereo with the blue label. That record went the way of much vinyl to finance cds on my label. When my father died a few years ago I found a copy I had given him. Sadly, only black vinyl but it still sounds great.
  18. I don't have Chuck's memory anymore. :-) Compulsion blew me a way when issued and still impresses today. Andrew and Joe Chambers hooking up is a big part of it.
  19. Matt Shipp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krlrzADsnzs&feature=youtu.be and Mr Wright https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EoNsXQIohc .

  21. Yes. He's sort of a local guy in Chicago and I get lots of feedback there. Sorry if I messed up a thread.
