Our daughter Carla received the Nano as a Christmas gift from a vendor. Within a month or two she bought a full size one and passed the Nano on to me. I never registered ownership with Apple and don't believe Carla did either, but I did receive the email from Apple. All I can figure is they pulled the info from the unit while I was connected to iTunes. Kinda spooky.
