  1. Loudness and compression are two different things. Be careful about confusing the two. Early cds were mastered at moderate volume levels (in fear of digital distortion) and things have changed. Excessive compression has become a relatively recent habit but they are not the same.
  2. Bought the original many years ago. Nice record.
  3. The mono and stereo versions of 1568 are slightly different. My solution is copies of TOCJ-9064 (JRVG) and TOCJ-1568.
  4. Had no idea it was gone. On the other hand, you had 14 years.......
  5. There was some problem with the initial issue of the McRae Monk record. The lyrics were by an old friend in Chicago. A lawsuit was filed by someone claiming Ben Sidran was the only lyricist authorized by the Monk Estate. Don't know how the suit was resolved.
  6. I loaded Chrome on one of my PCs and rarely used it as a browser. Recently the security suite on the PC repeatedly alerted me that Chrome was tracking my site visits though Chrome was not open. I quickly deleted it. Be careful.
  7. I do want to say many local malls are full of humans, but vacant.
  8. Great link Wheezie. I sent it to all my family.
  9. Makes sense. Thanks for all the work.
  10. Same material.
  11. I have it - it came out in '92. Indeed live trio with Torbjorn Hultcranz on bass and Sune Spangberg on drums. SteepleChase issued (at least) 4 lps/cds from this gig before. You might have some of them if you are a Bud fan. Anyway, this is more of the same.
  12. That is part of it. The Charlie Parker set was issued on an Alamac lp. These were combined on a cd by Stash/Jass. I see I was beat.
  13. Jan 30-31 Live recordings produced the 3 lps and this material is available on 2 cds - Stormy Weather and Gone with the Wind. Sept 5 Studio date with the same quartet. This session was initially combined with the material listed below for lp issues but was collected for a single cd called There Is No Greater Love. Sept 13/15/21 Studio sessions with Arnved Meyer band later collected on a cd called The Jeep Is Jumping.
  14. Look at your plate and decide.
  15. You should measure them against something and argue or not. Otherwise......strokes be strokes.
  16. Oliver Armstrong 5s and 7s Duke in the late '20s Jelly in Chicago Henderson w/Red and Hawk Bird Koko session Miles/Monk/Bags session Monk Brilliant Corners Newk - Worktime Diz/Rollins/Stitt sessions Ornette, Trane and Dolphy messed all this up for a while but I still pull out favorites. The rest expands on the above and become really personal as they guided my life. I did not mention specific issues 'cause my early versions do not equate to current packages in some cases.
  17. It is basically a combination of two incomplete/aborted sessions. 3 tracks with Seldon Powell and 5 with Stanley. Had the King lp and let it go. Memory says nothing really wrong or right about the material. YMMV.
