  1. What Jim said. Afro Bossa is a treasure chest to be explored for years.
  2. Only one of the problems when dealing with downloads.
  3. 1927 - 3 titles 1931 - 8 titles 1932 - 6 titles 1934 - 4 titles 1936 - 15 titles And I know of 11 alternates. There was a US Bluebird vinyl issue similar to the set Brownie mentioned.
  4. I hope they didn't breed. (another negative post from me)
  5. Move on folks. Nothing to see here.
  6. Phil (after the '50s) is a problem for me too. Very skillful but it gives me the heeby jeebies. Sorry.
  7. The depression probably caused more "pap" in the mix, but.....
  8. wiped that from my memory.
  9. You can say that again.
  10. G'bye Harvey. I fondly remember going to the Pig 'n' Whistle (aka Piss 'n' Wiggle) in Bloomington to hear Bill Bell and his brass ensemble play for the drinkers. That's the first thing I thought of when reading the post (Harvey was one of his students). Thanks to all you tuba players for putting bottoms on so much music.
  11. I think it would take about 4 or 5 discs to cover the stuff from their holdings, but that would start before the 1924 start.
  12. Nah, I have a can ready for shipping.
  13. Sorry, I read it as "shit in a can" and passed.
  14. I'm not sure Lasker was pleased, and I don't always agree with his choices.
  15. I get "warmed up" via different channels.
  16. The mid 30s were just fine. I have a bunch of favorites from that era.
  17. But the last sets are best, so you can ignore the other box.
  18. The entire group of teams is "in the pool" and gasping for air. What a lame bunch of teams.
  19. I thought it ended a couple of decades back.
  20. I just think Evans' playing is more compelling in this box, a bit less so in the 2nd box from this gig.
  21. I have them in the Classics series and there was a GRP/Decca single.
  22. The Henderson would most likely be a combination of the Columbia and Victor sides. They would total about 7 discs and now come from the same corporate source.
  23. FWIW, I think these are the best post-Riverside recordings of Mr. Evans. Great price for the set.
