A 3CD box set called Wildflowers: The New York Loft Jazz Sessions - Complete was issued on the Knitting Factory label back in 2000. It featured full versions of some tracks that were edited for the original vinyl releases.
I don't think there is anything in that set not included on the lps.
That's exactly what he means. It used to be a huge source of income for tons of musicians and recording studios. Don't know when this area collapsed, but in the '80s I still had friends feeding their families this way.
I want to add I bought this in high school for about $.79 (circa 1961) and it struck me as professional and no more.
Weren't most (all?) of Wallington's vintage trio recordings done for Prestige? The solo albums he did for a Japanese label late in his career are marvelous.
The 8 trio sides (with Curley Russell and Max) on Savoy are my favorite Wallington. The other trio sides on Savoy with Russell and Charlie Perry are not far behind.
You must mean '57 and there is a version with Hawk from the same year.
It is also on a Newport date with Pee Wee, the Solo Sessions set and the second volume of the London sessions for Black Lion.
Gee, I was thinking New Orleans, Chicago, Southwest, New York, West Coast and Other.
Actually, my entire collection is in a basement in Whitehall, Michigan.
