  1. I thought it was mentioned in the email that the 2nd lp is included. I finally found the first this spring, but it will be nice to have everything in one box. Memory from "back in the day" is that more was recorded but another session was needed to complete the project. Just reporting my (possibly faulty) memory.
  2. IIRC, the 2nd lp wasn't issued 'cause it needed more work and that never happened.
  3. Willing to bet the only new material is the unissued material from the X-75 sessions.
  4. Can we get a solid confirmation of this? Yes, this does not seem possible.
  5. Roscoe is very "up" for the Yugnaut concert - he's mentioned it to me twice in the last few months. Four Altos is Marty Ehrlich, Ned Rothenberg, Michael Attias and Andrew Laster and Third Man Trio is Han Bennink - percussion/drums, Michael Moore - reeds and Will Holshouser - accordion.
  6. This should be available in about a month. "Chicago saxophone legend Von Freeman took his working band to Europe for a triumphant appearance at Jazzfest Berlin, Halloween night, 2002. This recording contains the complete performance of his New Apartment Lounge Quartet from that evening. Festival artistic director John Corbett described the performance as 'a stunning toboggan ride of a concert, bringing some of the funky intimacy of the Chicago club to the German city'. He added 'Over the course of four long pieces, Freeman established his authority without question'." Recorded at Jazzfest Berlin, October 31, 2002 w/ Mike Allemana - guitar, Jack Zara - bass and Michael Raynor - drums The quartet plays Vonski Speaks, Darn That Dream, Summertime and Blues for Sunnyland.
  7. Got tickets for Wrigley Field tomorrow night - says a low of 45! What the heck will we wear?
  8. Kids slamming into other kids for the flag of some friggin' school. Is anyone proud?
  9. U put your left foot out, you... Hell yes!
  10. I thought is was a dance craze.

    Don Cherry

Too bad Cherry's Atlantic date with Henry Grimes and Ed Blackwell hasn't been issued.
  13. Morrie Alpert Herb Alpert Al Benson
  14. The original book would never fit in the new box. I ordered one as a gift and will report back next week when it arrives. FWIW, I am amazed the cd era has done away with tone controls and equalizers. These were regularly used by "audiophiles" in the vinyl only era.
  15. Did you mean singing or was he also concerned about his fans who were hearing impaired?
  16. They should have bought those new electric microphones.
  17. Hugh Brannum Richard Greene Grant Green
  18. The Badge of Red Courage? That was the name of the favorite novel of a classmate at the Iowa Writer's Workshop.
  19. turning into a depression thread.
  20. http://www.teslamotors.com/blog4/?p=66 I don't trust anyone selling the "hottest new thing - trust us".
  21. Both of the Delmarks are worthy - even the one with Nicky Hill in place of Griff.
  22. Survived the '50s. Don't need anyone to interpret it for me.
  23. Don't trust the AMG times. It would take 3, but IIRC, SteepleChase broke up the dates to match sets - not a bad thing.
