  2. Any problems, or just ones pertaining to this topic? Please don't open that book.

  5. The lps on Famous Door and Progressive are now coupled on a Progressive cd. A more recent project is available from Mighty Quinn.
  6. The "majors" changed their policies concerning leases a few years ago to prevent mixing companies masters. The Jacquet predated the change. Hm, I understand - but does the Jacquet contain all EMI other than the RCA-owned disc 4, or was that indeed an early exception? The set contained Apollo masters from Delmark and Savoys too.

  8. Max was a very interesting human to deal with on a personal/business level. I miss the guy. One of my favorite memories was non-musical. Max in a photo shoot with ad agency folks all around - pretty woman dancing around the room with a tulip of wine, Max at the drums, set designers/lighting people around and a photographer shooting away.
  9. Correct. I was not in Paris when they were recorded, but the guys made sure I had "rights" in North America. Not many artists would do that.
  10. Celebrated a day early by going to Dusty Groove. Bought the reissue of Roscoe's Solo Sackville record, Bill Dixon's Aum Fidelity "Darfur" and the dvd of Les Stances a Sophie. Cubs game tomorrow.
  11. Check out current auctions. Not that hard.
  12. Hope Phil finds a barber before the slammer. Some folks will grab that crop and call him Ben Dover.
  13. Two very interesting offers. Do these show up on the European site? They should do well there.
  14. Chewy thinks she looks hot. 'specially with that barbed wire around her.
  15. If you're expecting Jug to show, forget it.
  16. Want to make a couple of points. I started the Monk recreation set at the Chicago fest while Monk was alive. He died I was planning it and I killed the project, not wanting to look like a "grave robber". Art may have started from "ground zero" but I'm not sure. The fest performance that resulted is wonderful. I think Overton is overpraised for his charts. I think of him as a reliable transcriber. His best quality for these projects was assigning instruments to play Monk's chords - he did a great job. He did much better than Oliver Nelson who didn't understand the whole deal.
  17. I don't smoke. This would make you start.
  18. Is that code for something?
  19. I know that but it was not relevant to the current discussion.
  20. Sorry you haven't had any responses Al. Any Google search will find a number look up. Try all of them. Hope this new post finds someone able to help.
  21. Big confusion here. Cadence is the Rusch operation and Coda was originally operated by John Norris and Bill Smith. Their label is called Sackville. Back to the woodshed.
  22. So, someone can press wooden lps from the stamper created.
