  1. I can hear what you're saying, but I think that LD made more good records than AB. Very true.
  2. I always thought of him as the "Lou Donaldson of his generation".
  3. Did you notice the big dropout on the Rollins tape? Been there for 20+ years and reproduced (at least) twice on cd. I say, play the primary source tapes every couple of months 'til they die!!!! Money can be made, so why not?
  4. $3.93 this morning, $4.18 when I filled up this afternoon. Stop the traders. Run over the mothers if you have gas. Should not be permitted to buy unless you are able to take delivery!
  5. You make that sound like a demand.
  6. Happy Q, PHILLY Birthday!
  7. Correct. I have the solo disc on vinyl and a Japanese cd from 2002.
  8. Assumptions, hearsay and fading memory regarding Akisakila - I have the original vinyl, heard the Konnex discs were needle drops and own a Japanese cd reissue on AMJ. I bought the cds about 8 years ago and memory says it was better/different than the original lps.
  9. All the best. Speaking from experience, the journey will continue.
  10. Close to my reaction. I never replaced the first couple of RtF lps.
  11. I will sleep more deeply tonight with this information.
  12. Wonderful set: Were you aware of the Long titles?
  13. Let 'em go. That's life, or not.
  14. Hey Pete! Let's Eat More Meat.
  15. Guess I can finally forget about hearing Vocalion 1150 from the metal parts: MARGUERITE LONG WITH THE ELLINGTON TRIO - New York, November, 1927 ML vocal accompanied by Otto Hardwicke (alto saxophone), Duke Ellington (piano), Wellman Braud (bass) E6783 You Will Always Live In Our Memory unissued E6784 You Will Always Live In Our Memory Vocalion 1150 E6787 She's Gone To Join the Songbirds In Heaven unissued E6788 She's Gone To Join the Songbirds In Heaven Vocalion 1150 Not to mention the missing masters E6785/6. I had hoped this would be on the (otherwise wonderful) Decca box.
  16. Still living with my nano.
  17. Where did they place their lips when they blew up the chicken?
  18. Probably not the kind of sessions with unissued material surviving.
  19. Ted Lewis WAS a terrorist.
  20. Money saved for me. Might spend it on Jazz Oracles or sumpin' else.
  21. Al Dim Eola?
  22. All "Teds" are great men. My idol is Ted Kaczynski. Or was I thinking about Teddy Bunn?
