  1. Probably not fair posting this but in the studio today I was working on A1 Tal 2La, a duet by Roscoe Mitchell and Malachi Favors. I "teared up" by the end of the piece.
  2. A very nice and interesting man. I have fond memories of traveling to NY with Franz and a bunch of other Chicago musicians for a concert at Carnegie Hall. Franz took some of us to a place for lunch - he said Roy Eldridge had recommended it. It was a cafeteria a few blocks from the hall and the food was terrible, but Franz said it was wonderful and ate two plates of the stuff.
  3. I misunderstood. I thought only "side 1" was one track. If the entire cd is one track, it sucks.
  4. IIRC, that is the way the original lp was.
  5. Yes, I'm the lame looking white guy not doing anything.
  6. I found the perfect cactus for King Oliver. Sadly, there are only 5 plants left and I charge $300 per needle.
  7. Never saw a recording engineer wearing phones.
  8. Don't think I have any of those posters but don't think he has copies of the few I have kept.
  9. All of this is "tragic" but why be concerned by this "above" humans killing humans all over the world. We (the US) are a major part of this, but we are not alone. I fear a story of one dead horse obliterates stories of hundreds of human deaths elsewhere.
  10. Had it over a week and admit I find it impossible to read "front to back". Looked up the entries about me in the index and then started searching out others. Because of the personal nature of the subject and the enormous size (over 600 pages) it has become my favored "bathroom book". I wish it was possible for me to read it front to back. I'd say (at this point) George has done a very fine job
  11. Swell, Kart and a couple of others aside, this is an embarrassing list. What a bunch of tools.
  12. Unfortunately not true about Arnett. He had been in pretty tough shape for a while - but I kept going out of respect.
  13. The recordings were not made to be listened to via headphones. Not their problem.
  14. Happy Birthday and other good things.
  15. Sometimes for Joe a buck is a buck. I was probably there. Edit to add Rhapsody Films is selling a dvd of a 1981 performance at the Showcase.
  16. Depending on the record, 1000 to 2500 first pressing order. The first pressing of Congliptious had blue and burgundy labels. The record you have is undoubtedly a better pressing. The first run (1000) was done at the Chess plant and was the only time I pressed anything there.
  17. You can select "save" at the bottom of the PM page.
  18. Thanks for the fine music.
  19. Sorry to hear this. They were indeed a lovely couple. I couldn't imagine her without Milt.
  20. How could I miss this!! HB, my friend.
  21. Why no mention of the (possibly wonderful) Thurman Barker set at the fest?
