  9. Time for participants to take a deep breath. The question is about the quality of the recent RVG compared to........ Any views?
  10. Never thought cassettes were an "advance", only convenient.
  11. And a very nice man. Had a good time with him and Melba and Randy one night.
  12. "Leroy Jenkins died today in NYC - lung cancer." He was a sweet man.
  13. Been downloading and burning the above links today. Fun stuff. FWIW, I received an email from John Litweiler telling me "The Art Ensemble of Chicago for the foreseeable future is a quartet of Leo Smith, trumpet ; Roscoe Mitchell, saxes; Jaribu Shadid, bass; Don Moye, percussion. Don was on my radio program tonight and said that Muhal, George, and Braxton were not going to tour with the Art Ensemble this year - anything other than the quartet is somebody's pipe dream. " Wadada/Leo is one of my favorite people.
  14. Scott's full post (now edited) said: "They usually don't. Which is why I don't show up in them (the music forums here) very often. I'm not sure what that has to do with what I said. You want o prop Chris up as an important figure in Jazz, which he is. But he rarely discusses it anymore. He used to quite a bit years ago, but all but stopped since then. Then he runs away from here because I show up? I think the whole goddamn thing is just silly." So do I. Let's trade you for CA. Please.
  15. Anthony Braxton - Alto Saxophone Improvisations 1979 (Arista), side 1.
  16. Thanks for the effort Noj.
  17. Of course Chris is an important figure in Jazz. Nobody is trying to deny that. But he no longer talks about Jazz. He rarely did it on JC, and if you take a quick trip over to AAJ you'll see the entire front page of the Current Events section filled with nothing but NYT op-ed pieces. So, why should anyone pay attention to your posts on a "music forum"?
  18. So What! Let's measure your word count from thread to thread on this forum.
  19. I'd rather give Mosaic the money.
  20. Screw the "above". You make your own world nomatter the location. You can expend energy to change surroundings (or not), but take care of yourself and family. I have lived thru a ton of the above, made mistakes and hope my corrections work. Good luck. All of this depends on your personal goals.
  21. And then the bad shit happens. G'bye Guy.
