  1. Shivers up and down my spine. Looks like a mistake.
  2. Hey that is cheap, compared with a MINT Blue Note from Italy. And, hey they might actually deliver your chair. Not interested in those either. Had 'em, sold 'em,
  3. If you are saying that if Duke hadn't hired him, he wouldn't have accomplished much and might have died alone in PA, well, that's impossible to dispute. Obviously no one would know him if Duke hadn't hired him. The bigger question is, what would the Ellington-Strayhorn songs sound like if Duke hadn't hired him? Obviously we would still celebrate Duke - but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't celebrate Strayhorn as well. Strayhorn is fine and I celebrate him. Ellington's reputation was established earlier.
  4. Good to hope Lee eventualy gets money. Not a bad thing.
  5. Anyone spending $750+ for a friggin' chair has too much money. Time for reform.
  6. "Artist" with no real "artistic vision" and a producer with lots of ideas about what is salable.
  7. Hello everyone - let's get together and send Pampers to Rooster.
  8. Hate to fight with Late. Clubhouse was left in the can for a reason. BN stretched the envelope enough with Gettin' Around. These are the two weakest Dexter/BN dates in my estimation.
  9. I guess so. But why didn't he do a trial run with that hand held camera stuffed all up in his grill? That was the stupidest fucking thing I ever saw. That's all I needed was a nasty-assed close up of some dweebs face while he struts around singing about how fine he is and how his baby did him wrong. No thanks, give me an unprofessional street performer banging on tin cans any day. Looks like you watched the show more closely than I did.
  10. did you actually watch it yourself? i thought it was pretty fair-minded and balanced about that "thesis". there was a lot of speculation as to whether billy would have been able to accomplish much without duke during that time. that because of billy's personality, sexuality and society's prejudices at that time that he needed to "hide behind" someone like duke to allow his genius to flow. I burned a disc and watched it - twice. Billy was NOT ABLE to "accomplish much without duke" and that is my point. He might have died alone in PA. The Stravinsky and Mahler comparisons were stupid. Jazz "fans" diminish the art by comparing it to another form.
  11. The JRT Davies transfers for JSP were done a couple of decades ago. If he'd done them later they would sound different. You can still find the Sony set online for reasonable prices if you search. Not that the Sony set is perfect, but it's pretty damn good.
  12. Young John Young Captain David Shipp Alan Shipton
  13. Timbercrap turned in a decent performance on the show. He was "professional"" at least. Others were not.
  14. I got a half dozen titles off jazzmusicdepot. No problems. All were sealed and thus very nice. I've bought some too. No problems. MG Tom is a good guy (I have sold him stuff for years) and he gets the records direct from Schlitten. Have no fear.
  15. From past experience, I will never buy a printer from anyone not named HP.
  16. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me Ted Kendall did the sound restoration. From personal experience, Kendall uses noise reduction as desired by his customers. Don't blame him.
  17. Interesting comparing all 3 takes of Africa.
  18. The bonus track was on Decca MCAD-31372, issued in the US in 1990. Cohn revisited "America" on Carl Fontana's "The Great Fontana".
  19. and the shots of folks in the audience looking like WTF! really sad.
  20. I have picked up these titles (Universal Japan) for around $12 each in the last 3 years.
  21. Ah, the lone publicist.
  22. If it was important to you, you'd read them. I think this is an error.
  23. In my basement. Been here for 20+ years. No expensive/stylish chairs. Nothing hurts. I think we make our own comfort.
  24. Fine recordings indeed, but Gambit is not the best source. Sorry to see you recommending this crap.
  25. Gene Sperling Gene Vincent Gene Wright
