  1. Depended on how lazy the artist was and the timespan you are asking about.
  2. Great recording and I prefer the other side.
  3. Don't hold your breath.
  4. Not sure what a "week moment" is but you really need the 2 disc set. The notes answer your questions and give you more music in better sound.
  5. I have a number of objections to the show's "thesis". BS was fine but without Ellington he'd be zero. To blame Ellington is a crime in my book.
  6. Actually the cover says Jack Monterose. Interested parties can hear this session on a Fresh Sound JR compilation called Jaywalkin'. Obviously I'm too slow on the trigger.

    Nina Simone

Is there an echo in here?
  8. JR, not Jack.
  9. They were recorded about 3 months apart. Did you get the version of the Coral Cohn/Sims with a bonus track?
  10. Rudy's is the brown structure on a large wooded lot. The living quarters are at the bottom of the image. All the structures around his property came after he built the studio. It was still sparsely developed when I first went there 30+ years ago.
  11. I don't think so.

The box pictured above (issued in 2003) was mastered by Jeff Willens so I'd guess the same masters were used for the single issues.
  13. That, and the fact that they get a nice profit on their shipping charge, since Media Mail for a CD is maybe a buck while they are getting $2.59 each. Brings their price more in line with a lot of other sellers. First class for one cd is usually $1.25 - media mail is $1.59. Caiman also has the advantage of no inventory, very low overhead and a huge customer base via Amazon. From the looks of the corporate structure, they have a big tax advantage.
  14. I had this issue with Newbury Comics (Sonny Rollins Plus Four), but after I notified them they immediately sent me the K2 version before I even sent back the OJC. Guy Well, it's a couple of weeks and all I have is crap from Moviemars and the cost of returning the cd. Never had anything but great service from Newbury. They seem to ship the same day.
  15. Complete sentences please. I want to understand what you are saying. Also, are we talking about Uptown or Nessa? I understood the discussion was currently about an Uptown. Why so difficult, Horny?? FWIW, I was responding to "Who has the rights to 'dem rekkids?". Try Amazon, Barnes and Noble, J&R, City Hall, Jazz Loft, True Blue, etc. It ain't that hard. North Country is just one source.
  16. Moviemars has been fine in my experience. They also seem to be accurate in what is in stock and what isn't. I'm currently dealing with a problem from Moviemars. They advertised the K2 version of Bill Evans "New Jazz Conception". I received the same old 1989 version.
  17. You are not paying attention. I love the Joseph date.
  18. Wish I still had a copy of this. Bud was pissed about the issue (since he received no money) and suggested I issue it to kill the Blue Rhythm record. He didn't want money from me, just wanted to punish the other guy.
  19. Two points: The return address on the package is no indication of the mailing point. I've ordered from them for a number of years and the differences in label printing software and packaging indicated different "fulfillment" points. It is likely they have deals with a number of suppliers to make mailings for them. I only order from them when the price differential is worth the wait (and sometimes hassle). Orders from them typically take 5-7 days longer than other Amazon orders. I had a 2 month problem with them on a $60 order. They kept sending me phony progress reports and eventually refunded my money. Since they surely have "terms" with suppliers and the customers pay in advance, they make money with our money beyond the delivery (or not) of goods.
  20. Ed Hall date on Blue Note.
  21. Maybe Red Nichols? Looks a lot like Wild Bill Davison http://www.jazzland.at/archiv/bilder/st010...avison-50er.jpg It is Red Nichols.
  22. This was supposed to be issued by Uptown about 10 years ago. Uptown was in the process of licensing it from Universal when their legal department stopped it because they had a label called Uptown. They said we'd have to change the name of the label. I think there was a worthy bonus track too - not sure if it was an alt or another tune. Nimitz had an acetate reference disc (and/or a cassette), but the master tapes are in the Universal vault. I hope FS had access to the tapes but I wouldn't count on it.
