Yes, it is gone. Maybe some should start a Bill Evans Complete Riverside Box Thread!

The 40 year old Virgin

I wouldn't either, I was talking about Carell's role. I just really dig his performance in this movie. -

Exactly! Will Ferrell is not as subtle. -

IMHO, the best movie of 2005. ..and this is coming from someone that has seen all the Academy Award nominated movies and easily another 30 films released in 2005. I thought Steve Carell was wonderful and the casting was perfect. I would have never imagined that Catherine Keener would turn out so perfect for the role she played. I like the fact that they didn't feel they had to have the actual loss of his virginity turned into a big joke or classless act. As you said slide_advantage_redoux, he found someone he was interested in, fell in love, and then had sex when he was ready. Though I have to say Carell made the movie, with anyone else in the role the movie wouldn't work. Can you imagine Will Ferrell pulling off the role? -

I don't know why, but I assumed it was a common law marriage. -
I will give another to the Conn that featured both volumes of this. I never fell for the The Jazz Modes recordings as much as the two Blue Note ten inches.

Question about Yoshi's at Jack London Square
HolyStitt replied to HolyStitt's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Thank you for the heads up. If I buy more then one set will I have to move to a new table or can I stay at the same table between sets? -
I just bought plane tickets to fly out to the Bay Area for the 75th Birthday Celebration for Kenny Burrell at Yoshi's. I have never been to Yoshi's, so my questions are about the room. I hear the place is general admission. Is it hard to get a decent place to sit and watch the show unless you get in line early at the venue? In general, I am looking for some feedback on the room, so I have a night where the music can be memorable, without any possible issues with the venue. Just a disclaimer: I am not implying the the venue has problems, I just have seen problems, most minor, from all jazz venues in the town I live in.

What live music are you going to see tonight?
HolyStitt replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
How was the Mahogany & Holloway show??? Know nothing of Mahogany's music but love Holloway. Going to see them this Saturday night. m~ It's hard to get my mind around it after the loud rock music last night, but I had a good time. I would have rather seen a Red Holloway show without a vocalist, but I enjoyed the opportunity to see him perform. Sorry if I am not more help. -

It's funny you mention this. After I emailed Fantasy, about the proclamation, it took a few days for anyone to get back to me. When she called, she apologized for the delay. I said no problem, I bet things are a little hectic around there with the merger and she said no, that was old news and the after affects had been in place for a while now. It's sad to say, but I feel this has more to do with Concord wanting their own person in this position.

This is sad news. I spoke to her this Spring. I am working on having a city proclamation put out when Sonny Rollins comes to town this Fall and she was my contact person from Fantasy. She was a lot of help, with contacting Sonny to make sure it was something he wanted done and giving me suggestions on how it should be written.

I keep eyeing that Daryl Hall CD, but I am a little nervous about buying it! I ordered the reissue of Exposure from my local mom and pop, I am going to start with that first. Anyone have any feedback on the Fripp recordings with David Sylvian?

I think we are the only ones that have been adding up our totals. -
Is this the one you are talking about: Live at the Wiltern, July 1, 1995? Friday, I ordred the Wiltern, B'Boom, and Nashville Rehearsals, 1997 from DGM. I also ordered Absent Lovers: Live In Montreal 1984 from a Half.com seller.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have been listening to a lot King Crimson lately. Can you give me some feedback on these titles?

I went to see them at First Avenue once. I brought a friend who was a hippy/prog fan. Everything was going great until they started playing. Before the first song was finished he was foaming at the mouth, screaming at the stage, and going nuts. I thought I would wait him out, but he was getting madder & madder, and was starting to move toward the stage. I grabbed him and dragged him out of the club. BTW: The one and a half songs I heard were OK.
