Is there a tracklist for this one? I bought this one from Tower in February. It is really nice to have all of these sessions on one CD and I am looking forward to the next volumes, but I wish they would have put all of his sessions on here. They excluded the sessions that he led in the Forties because they were already on volumes by Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been waiting for this one.

Jim, don't worry about it, things happen. I just hope things are OK for you since going to the dentist. -
This has been a part of the show that has bothered me. Why haven't they tied up the loose aspects of Chris and Paulie letting the Russian escape in the park?

Did you flunk out of Cecil Taylor's jazz history class?
HolyStitt replied to Hot Ptah's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Years ago, while in high school, I took a Jazz History class. During the semester, it was just the teacher and I, nobody else signed up for the class. His curriculum focused primarily on video's and the teacher sitting at the piano to show how certain things involved from the standpoint of the keyboard. After the first month, watching the video's started to get old (even in the 1980's, Wynton Marsalis was the go to guy on these things), but the experience of having the advisor sit down and explain the evolution of piano was priceless. At the moment, I attend a history of Rock n' Roll class at my college. Like Jim, before I started the class I had spent many years reading books on the material and I also worked at a record store for 10 years. Like Allen's experience, it constantly feels like I should steer the teacher in the right direction. The professor told the class that ELP recorded 21st Century Schizoid Man (this may be true, but why tell the class this when it is famous for being a King Crimson song) and that Stax Studios and Fame Studios were the same place (to show this she played a Sam and Dave song and Wilson Pickett's In the Midnight Hour, both recorded at the Stax Studios). The one positive aspect of the teacher has been sitting done and talking about music. One day, the professor told me that there were certain musicians that she didn't understand why people had interest in. The example's she made were Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, John Coltrane, and Electric Miles Davis, with the professor's primary interest being vocalists, the blues, gospel, jazz vocalists, classical, and big bands. This professor is the only person teaching a jazz history course at the school I attend, so I will pass on the Jazz History class because I do not need more of this frustaration. -
Thank you for finding this for me! I ordered one through the link. Thanks for that link. Bought a copy of Optimista which I couldn't find elsewhere. Be aware that you purchased the 1 CD version of what is a 2 CD set in the incarnation that I have. 8 fewer tracks. Still a great deal. Oops... Well, on a positive note, I will have the chance to hear her music.

Please read the first post of this thread. Daniel A wrote about his Vogue recordings. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...opic=17964&st=0 The Jo Jaguar total output consists of one 12-inch album plus one EP. Never heard those. They have never been reissued. Somebody who heard them told me not to bother. There are easy listening pîano sessions. Guess Solal would be mightily embarassed if they were reissued now. Thanks Brownie. I thought something must be different about the material for the music to not be included on the Complete Vogue series. I am sure enjoying the first CD in the series.

No problem, jlhoots. I appreciate everything you have done.

After last night, I wish it would have been Artie that was killed.

Last night, I listened to the first CD in the Martial Solal Complete Vogue series. In the notes it says that this series will include all of his Vogue recordings, with the exception being the recordings he made under the pseudonym Jo Jaguar. Does anyone know anything about these recordings?

Happy Birthday to Johnny Griffin!

Went to the Mosaic Web site and found the probable answer to my question. The extra cuts from early 1965, including "Sun Dance", were produced by John Simon, who later produced the first two Band LPs.

jlhoots and JSngry, thank you for the help. I can deal with the techno influences. When I worked at the store, I mainly worked shifts with a coworker that only played electronic/techno music during his turn on the stereo. Heck, he even performed his own music, which was made on a gameboy. I will order a couple of CDs by her.

Dusty Groove does not have it. I bought mine from an Amazon "vendor" for $33 + shipping. The "cheapest" one there now is $50. I wonder if Hiroshi could get it for you. I wouldn't mind paying the $50, but the seller is Caiman, who I have had bad luck with. I have sent them money, at least three times now, and been told weeks later that the item I ordered was out of print. How would I contact this seller named Hiroshi about the CD? Maybe, what I should ask is what would be the best CD to start with...

Does anyone ave any suggestions for where I can find "4 Seasons?"

This is sad. His photography books were some of the first I ever bought. Cheers! to being such a great artist! R.I.P.

I know, both of these chump teams are making it look like I mad some bad picks! -
I occasionally check out Video Ranch, Mike Nesmith's site to see if there is anything new. Last night, I noticed that there is a new release listed there called Rays. I was about to order it and realized that check out was not secure, so I plan on ordering it by phone. Has anyone heard the new CD?

Thanks for the heads up. I am unhip to the Copy Protection thing. My only experiences being with the last Joe Lovano CD. I like to have a CDRs of my CDs, so I can listen to while I am not at home.

Total playing time for the two Gil Evans albums is just over 75 minutes. Would fit on one CD, but on the other hand, then there won't be any room for the copy protection... Have any of the recent Connoisseurs had copy protection?

Will either of these be a double CD: Lou Blackburn – The Complete Imperial Sessions (19 tunes) Gil Evans – The Complete Pacific Jazz Sessions (15 tunes)
