  1. The same thing happened when I opened mine. By this time I had been through the whole mailing Sony the discs and receiving the replacement discs scenario with my Louis Armstrong Complete Hot Five's set, so I was an old hand at the process. In both cases I have kept the replacement CDs in the jewel cases they were sent in.
  2. American League Central Division teams in the World Series for two years straight. What is the world coming to!
  3. Happy Birthday!!
  4. Of course not, it is only available on the site. It features Stan Lee on flute, Elvis doing free jazz yodeling, Jack Kirby on kazoo, and all are supported by the Oscar Peterson trio. Deep, deep underground tracks.
  5. No, the one where Stan Lee plays flute.
  6. I think with the Elvin set, they mis-quoted the set as "Running Low." When I called in late September to do my Mulligan/Wilson birthday order, they said that there were 100 Elvin's left. I think they assumed that since the set had a high retail price many people wouldn't pull the trigger as fast as the Mulligan. Holy Stitt: What were the others? Thanks None of them were anywhere near extinction, but they implied that the Roach & Piano Moods sets were nearing contractual obligations (I assumed timing out). He told me they still had quite a few in the warehouse, so they are nowhere near being on the "Running Low" list, but might be next to go.
  7. Very true. While I was working retail, drummers of all genre's would come in and ask me if I was going to see Elvin play in concert.
  8. Am I the only one that wondered if this thread was for a Stan Lee jazz LP?
  9. Jim, pretty much the same case for me. I just called Mosaic because I wanted to make sure there is not a set nearing extinction that I have more love for. There were a couple they estimated will be nearing extinction that I want, but when I heard that they only had 37 Elvin Jones sets left, I made my decision and pulled the trigger. So, as of 10:38 Central time there are only 36 left.

    Sonny Fortune

A few years back, at the old Dakota, they also booked the Morgan/Fortune Quintet. The first night I went, Morgan was a no show, so they had Sonny Fortune play that night as part of a quartet. At first I was disappointed because I was looking forward to seeing Frank Morgan again. After the first number I realized I was in for a great night! The next night Morgan missed the first set, but was there for the 2nd set.
  11. My buddy stopped by with a nice stack of Bob boots for my birthday.
  12. This is crazy...
  13. Sounds about right.
  14. I will just take the Hicks CD. I had to check my shelf and find out if I had the Coleman CDs and to make sure the Nelson was on the Dolphy box. A PM was just sent.
  15. I will take the Hicks, maybe more.
  16. It's sad the Twins are out of the playoffs, but at least it was the A's that swept the team. I have family in the bay, so I have a weak spot for the A's. Hopefully the Twins can find a decent DH and another starting pitcher to fill Radke's spot for next year.
  17. I thought he was fluff (from the year he played for the Twins), but he sure was great through out the game. When he spoke to ESPN after the game, he seemed real, which made me question if this was the guy that was throwing cameras around last year. Seriously, a great start.
  18. Thanks again folks. It was a nice birthday: A package of CDs arrived with the 3 most recent Anthony Wilson CDs and the Bill Holman Live CD. The Twins didn't play, so they didn't lose another game on my birthday. We had a wonderful cake with a lemon filling from Scandia Bakery.
  19. Sad news. I first heard about Buck from the Ken Burns Baseball doc. His personality and spirit came through so well in the series. I soon after found out about the Negro League Museum in K.C. and have donated to them ever since.
  20. No problem, I even forgot about 2001 and had to edit the post!
  21. What about the 2003 World Series against the Marlins? Quick add: There was also the 2001 W.S. with the Diamondbacks.
  22. I know Hammer works very well in the appropriate context, I just couldn't pass up a chance to make a joke.
  23. I am also a concerned Twins fan, but I hope the Yankees win, eventually go to the World Series, and get swept by the Met's. That would really f#&k up the mind of Yankees fans!
