  3. I do not know what the sets on average go for, but the music is so wonderful that I would consider it a great deal. I also have the LP version of the set and love it, but I still get mad when I think about the fact that I had the CD version in my hold box at the record store and someone there snatched it while I was gone.

  6. I assumed this thread was about the Charlie Christian or Louis Armstrong Hot Five box set's. When I purchased them, I had to send the discs back for replacements. On the other hand, I bought the Captain Beefheart set from Revenant, had the same problem with one of the discs, but they wouldn't exchange it.
  7. That's the show I bought the tickets for my mom. It now looks like the only tickets available are in the upper deck.
  8. This was my take too. I have heard his recordings my whole life (my mother is a huge fan), but wasn't blown away by his guitar playing until I saw him on the 2004 tour. I bought my mother tickets for the most recent tour, but now I wish I would have bought some for myself because of the fact that he has added Derek Trucks on guitar and he has been playing a few Derek and the Dominoes era tunes, like: Got To Get Better In A Little While, Bell Bottom Blues, Layla, and Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad. In general, he seems to be working a pretty good set, with Let It Rain, Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out, Running On Faith, Everybody Oughta Make A Change, and Motherless Children among the usual suspects.
  9. When I was a kid my mother had an early 1980's Monte Carlo and it was stolen more times then I can count. The routine became that she would always pick it up from the impound lot. then have a new steering column put in it, and then a few months or a year later the whole thing would start all over again. When my brother was in his early twenties, she gave the car to him. Of course, the same thing kept happening and my brother started getting really pissed off. Finally, he refused to put a new steering column in the car and decided that he was going to stay up nights scoping out the car at night until he caught this guy. Sure enough, a few weeks later the idiot came back again to steel the car. My brother cornered the guy, scared the living sh#t out of the guy, and held him until the police came. The police ended up letting the idiot go, but he was too scared to mess with the car again.
  10. Your making me feel old because the last record he made that I loved was Death Certificate, though I bought The Predator (thought it was OK) and Lethal Injection(hated it). Can he still be hard even after those kids in the movie punked him?
  11. ...and they appear to be the remasters from 2005, which I have heard, have drastically better sound.
  12. I thought the pacing was terrible this season. It takes three episodes for Tony to make it out of the hospital, but the last episode moves through many months. Why couldn't they developed the story line with Christopher's girlfriend while everything was going on with Vito?
  13. Doin' It Right was one of the first jazz CDs I ever bought. Very sad news.
  14. Sad news. I only had the chance to see him in concert once and it was at a Eric Clapton show in 2004. My mom is a huge Clapton fan, so I went her to the concert and I was shocked that he was in the band. He was featured on I wanna little girl.

  16. Another twenty points from this round, so my total for the playoffs will be 118 points because I picked Detroit to win the Championship.
  17. Man, I am out of the loop, I didn't even realize that Rick Adelman was out of Sacramento.
  18. I feel that one. Especially since I am the only person to pick Dallas to beat the Spurs, I am still in the running to win all the pool's I entered.

  20. I have seen Arkestra under the direction of Marshall Allen twice. The first time was at a biker bar in Minneapolis on the evening of the 1996 presidential election. Great music, but the bikers were not too thrilled with the music! The second time was a few years later at the Walker Art Center, which was a much better venue. The Arkestra, when I have seen them, has a very eclectic songbook. They play everything from Sun Ra standards, the Disney Songbook, and staples of the Fletcher Henderson big band. If memory serves me correct, there might be a few numbers that will wake up the audience, but the whole night won't drive people away from the concert.

I can relate. The big band material is great, but I more then not reach for Fletcher Henderson instead. When I want to hear B.G. I usually reach for the Small Group recordings or the Christian sides.
