  1. Hans, Happy Birthday to one of the best pairs of ears on this--or any other--forum!
  2. FWIW, a lot of the Universal sets (including mine) don't have the problem with disc 6. You might want to see about getting it replaced. And no, only tranemonk is eternally indebted to me (at least in his mind).
  3. He means me. I turned him (and the rest of the Board) onto a great deal for this set (Universal edition) a couple of years ago, and now he's eternally indebted to me.
  4. It's definitely on my list for some point in the future. In the interim, I still have the 2 Columbia "Duke's Men" doubles--containing a lot of these tracks--to tide me over.
  5. Billie Holiday, "The Complete Decca Recordings"--both discs
  6. Thanks for the head's-up. It doesn't show up in the Classical New Arrivals for some reason.
  7. Here. With LOTS of sound samples.
  8. The much bigger question here that everyone else has missed so far is: who the hell is Claire ???
  9. I just logged on and I'm still getting $5.99. I'm pretty much a one cd per monther. When did you guys join?? I joined about 2 years ago when it was still $4.99. I've ordered a ton of stuff--well, maybe a half-ton--from yourmusic, but that didn't seem to help. OTOH, maybe the current 5.99'ers ordered a lot more than I did. I think we determined when the price first went up to $6.99 that several people who joined at $4.99 got bumped up to $6.99, so that alone can't be it. Maybe it's a combination of having joined at $4.99 AND havning purchased a ton of stuff. Or maybe it's just the people who own a lot of Sony/BMG stock.
  10. Mine are still $6.99. So are mine. It'd be interesting to find out why some people are still getting the $5.99 price.
  11. And it's not just going to be "contemporary jazz". OK, here goes my third and final attempt: Cuscuna says in the press release that "we are in a position to give great jazz and adult music the treatment it deserves." Doesn't anyone else wonder WTF he means by "adult music"?
  12. Billie Holiday, "The Complete Verve Studio Master Takes" (Verve), discs 1-3
  13. I'm still hung up on Cuscuna's reference to "adult music" in addition to jazz. Isn't that kinda like radio-station-format talk, as in AAA (Adult Album Alternative)? Seems as if Mosaic is softening (blurring?) its focus a bit.
  14. We'll have to do that the next time they're there. Just imagine the great cover for the CD: "organissimo--Live at the Art Museum"
  15. FWIW, this session is currently available on this Gambit CD: The liners identify the session as recorded at P.J.'s in Los Angeles in Summer 1965, and also acknowledge that it was originally released on Emerald (the Amazon description also identifies the original title as "On Fire"). In addition to the 7 PJ's tracks, the CD also includes a track recorded in Denmark in 1969 ("Medley: Manha De Carnaval/Samba de Orfeu"), 3 tracks recorded for Swedish television in 1973 ("Blues", "Basie's Blues", and "The Shadow of Your Smile"), and a 1969 track recorded at Ronnie Scott's that also features Kenny Burrell and Grant Green ("Blue Mist").
  16. Andrew Hill Select, disc 1
  17. You mean as contrasted with Ludacris and ZZ Top?
  18. It's arrived. By the way, I caught your review on the Blue Note site.
  19. Peer pressure hereby applied. Put on your Nikes and JUST DO IT.
  20. Let's see how much sleep I get tonight and how I feel on Friday. I'd really like to go. It'd be great to finally meet you (and see if you really exist ).
  21. Up for any stragglers--we know you're out there! So who else is gonna be there?
