  1. I actually sent them an email asking why some people are still getting the lower price while others aren't, and received the following reply: I'm not sure if that's true, but that was the response.
  2. I sent them a receipt at the end of December, hadn't heard anything, and called earlier this week. The fellow who's handling this (can't remember his name) told me that he usually sends the replacements out within a day of receiving a request, and said he suspects that either my request or the replacement disc was lost in the mail. He's sending me another replacement disc (and didn't even want another copy of my original receipt).
  3. Great pics, Jim! They really give a good feel for what the place and your trip were like (and for what it's like to schlepp you guys around ). You're very visually attuned to the details--obviously due to Alison's influence. Looks like Barak took great care of you guys!
  4. I.e., just your standard organissimo gig.
  5. So how was the gig??? Or do I have to bake you a fruit pie to find out?
  6. . . . in 24-bit. I've been suffering through that scratchy, tinny, ear-drum-assaulting 20-bit K2 long enough.
  7. I'm on the case! I have it on good authority that Chuck doesn't like smileys, so I think you're already in trouble, Ron. Who's smilin'?
  8. I'm on the case!
  9. I know. Philly and Boston and a few other places in the US seem old and quaint and classic until you visit a European city or two--then you realize how new they actually are. Of course, you'll see really old when Barak takes you to Jerusalem tomorrow. Kick some serious ass tonight!
  10. Is that instead of Philly?
  11. Happy Birthday, Mark! When Randy gets back from Israel, I'm gonna have him give you a big fat birthday kiss right on the lips (somethin' to look forward to!). Have a great day!
  12. Hans, Happy Birthday to one of the best pairs of ears on this--or any other--forum!
  13. FWIW, a lot of the Universal sets (including mine) don't have the problem with disc 6. You might want to see about getting it replaced. And no, only tranemonk is eternally indebted to me (at least in his mind).
  14. He means me. I turned him (and the rest of the Board) onto a great deal for this set (Universal edition) a couple of years ago, and now he's eternally indebted to me.
  15. It's definitely on my list for some point in the future. In the interim, I still have the 2 Columbia "Duke's Men" doubles--containing a lot of these tracks--to tide me over.
  16. Billie Holiday, "The Complete Decca Recordings"--both discs
  17. Thanks for the head's-up. It doesn't show up in the Classical New Arrivals for some reason.
  18. Here. With LOTS of sound samples.
  19. The much bigger question here that everyone else has missed so far is: who the hell is Claire ???
  20. I just logged on and I'm still getting $5.99. I'm pretty much a one cd per monther. When did you guys join?? I joined about 2 years ago when it was still $4.99. I've ordered a ton of stuff--well, maybe a half-ton--from yourmusic, but that didn't seem to help. OTOH, maybe the current 5.99'ers ordered a lot more than I did. I think we determined when the price first went up to $6.99 that several people who joined at $4.99 got bumped up to $6.99, so that alone can't be it. Maybe it's a combination of having joined at $4.99 AND havning purchased a ton of stuff. Or maybe it's just the people who own a lot of Sony/BMG stock.
  21. Mine are still $6.99. So are mine. It'd be interesting to find out why some people are still getting the $5.99 price.
  22. And it's not just going to be "contemporary jazz". OK, here goes my third and final attempt: Cuscuna says in the press release that "we are in a position to give great jazz and adult music the treatment it deserves." Doesn't anyone else wonder WTF he means by "adult music"?
  23. Billie Holiday, "The Complete Verve Studio Master Takes" (Verve), discs 1-3
  24. I'm still hung up on Cuscuna's reference to "adult music" in addition to jazz. Isn't that kinda like radio-station-format talk, as in AAA (Adult Album Alternative)? Seems as if Mosaic is softening (blurring?) its focus a bit.
