  1. It's in a cat's nature to play rough with each other and with humans until either lets it be known that it's had enough. Putting a cat with a baby - no matter how "cute" it may appear - baby laughing, crying, gurgling...all emotions changing in split seconds - before the inevitable strike is just plain stupid. Sounds like a Russian or Ukrainian voice, but I don't know if it actually told the child to hit the cat or not. My "kids" get rough with me and with each other, but we have an understanding. That's something that nobody in this video has.
  2. No it doesn't. I think that this thread could be an interesting example of a psychotherapy study. Maybe some of you are reading waaaay too much into this little snippet. Has it occurred to you that maybe the child had been crying for who knows how long and maybe they thought that the cat (new?) would calm it down? "No, mommy! I don't want that cat on my bed!" SMACK - or some such... Of course, it could be another story - maybe one dreamed up here, but the bottom line is that we just don't know, do we? Striking a cat is wrong and it's no surprise that the cat struck back and, no, the person(s) filming and/or posting it aren't to blame either. Maybe it's to prove a point... or..... we don't know do we?
  3. It's been a bit of a wait, but the unveiling of the first fragments of the Peel archive are being made available starting today. The story revisited here with an introductory video available here. Click here to take a tour around the virtual record collection.
  4. Yes! - back in the 90's, tho I'm not sure that it was a "legit" release. Have had the LPs for about 40 years. Nice set! ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Luc Ferrari - Archives Génétiquement Modifiées 3
  5. This just came with an eBay win of some RSA SecureID tags. Usually, if there's anything extra, it's a postcard or business card or some such thing, but this was a surprise. I have no idea what he's talkin' 'bout, but we must've been beaten badly. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Tres Senores Del Son - No Tiene Telerana
  6. Nice story. I've thought about this and I can't really come up with anything comparable. The music may, at times, harken back to a specific event [lying back in a car with a moonroof watching (shooting) stars while Eroc's "Kleine Eva" played], or a specific favorite on-air DJ (in Chicago: especially, Saul Smaizys, Earl McGhee, "Scorpio"...), but the idea of a social grouping tied to a specific recording just isn't coming to mind. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Art Zoyd - Brigades Speciales
  7. A while back, I moved everything over to a Drobo setup as a backup to the main set of drives. The Drobos are hot-swappable and provide me with 16TB of storage. It was a bit ornery with Time Machine, so SuperDuper is the backup now. Squeezebox has some weirdness that needs to be overcome, but I've always had problems with Logitech products being difficult. Still, I can wake up to Radio Schizoid and Erika Radio and go to sleep with Sleepbot or Triad Radio (whenever Saul has it running in "freeform" mode). ®ø∂ --- Now playing: The Bas Lexter Ensample - Do Right

  10. ...nor is the third album, but you've got an exhibit somewhat like the one in München last September and another limited edition release of the "Catalogue" collection with releases 4 thru 11. Unfortunate the way that MOMA handled the ticketing of the shows. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Ton Steine Scherben - Fieber
  11. Wot a legacy! ®ø∂ --- Now playing: The Baja Marimba Band - A Partridge in a Pear Tree
  12. When chance brings one of those early tunes that defines a "time" for me, sometimes it becomes a catalyst for more of the same. Sometimes I ride it to exhaustion - its and mine. I can't really associate music with bad times, so it's almost always a fun ride. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Connie Jordan - I'm Gonna Rock Till My Rocker Breaks Down

You're right! I just can't keep up with all of it! I should've checked. I'll have to go back and listen to that set again - Clearly, it's been a while. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Ravi Shankar - Anti Drug Spot

Europe 2003 If you have those Leo 4-Disc "Standards" boxsets that were released about 8 years ago, here are 4 tunes from those concerts that were never released. Total time: about 1 hour. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Han Bennink - At 4
  15. It's becoming more common to see assistants doing the actual work dictated by the artist. The latest newsworthy uprising over this trend comes between Damien Hirst and David Hockney. Hirst's assistants have painted his new series of "spot" paintings while Hockney has been clearly miffed by this and has made a point in interviews that he makes all of his art himself. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Tomorrow - 10,000 Words in a Cardboard Box
  16. ...or 76! ...and then I could've asked for one, got a trumpet instead and become Don Ellis! ®ø∂ Now Playing: The Chuck-A-Lucks - Sugar Cane Curtain
  17. Those and the huge shipping containers! Unofficially, twelve tornadoes hit in our area - the official count is usually higher. whew... ®ø∂ Now Playing: Lucky Thompson with George's Dukes and Duchess - Cherokee
  18. Good reason to not be upstairs or near a window during a storm. Notice the tile actually peeled from the bathroom floor. ®ø∂ Now Playing: Bessie Jones & the Georgia Sea Island Singers - Daniel in the Lion's Den
  19. Yup, I think we're in the clear now - it's moved east, but two tornadoes dropped for quite a while in some neighborhoods just 15 miles east of here. Meanwhile: sirens, winds, rain (@ 4.5 inches per hour at one point) and hail signaled enough warning for me to quickly empty the middle closet, put some provisions inside, put on my bike helmet and keep a close eye on the cats. ah....spring! ®ø∂ Now Playing: Toots Thielemans - Le Trottoir
  20. Sirens are blowin'...and the hail is here. ®ø∂
  21. http://www.weather.com/ First wave may come thru your area and second wave may hit mine. ®ø∂ Now Playing: Don Byas - Stormy Weather
  22. I'll take a good, appropriate, well-programmed drum machine over a lousy ineffectual drummer. ®ø∂ (taking cover from the approaching tornado) Now Playing: Wojciech Kilar - Mina-Dracula (Dracula) (1992)
  23. "...Earl Scruggs was an innovator who pioneered the modern banjo sound. His use of three fingers rather than the clawhammer style elevated the banjo from a part of the rhythm section — or a comedian's prop — to a lead instrument..."
  24. Aeons? I'm a nitpicker for accuracy when it comes to this - especially since the tunes are part of an archive - and I've had no problem averaging an upload of 600-700 recordings a month - nearly a thousand in December alone. This month is a little more sparse (at, as of now, only 382) because I have 2 audio projects, 1 video project and about 100 video and audio files on my website that I'm in the middle of converting to HTML5 that I want done within the next week. So, when I look at a total of 24,008 albums that I've transferred over the last 3 years and know that I can just plug in a 160GB iPod, hit "autofill" and in a few hours have a diverse collection of work to listen to and do it whenever I want, I see nothing but extreme ease of use that can be done anytime you wish. ®ø∂ --- Now playing: Inneke Kusumawati, Jopi R. Item & Band de Galaxies - Bila Teringat Padamu
