  1. Be sure to get the 1991 8CD Atlantic box (the one you linked to), it has more tracks than the 7 individual CD volumes that were issued in the 1980s and it also has the correct takes instead of the wrong ones that were used on the 1980s discs. The sound is excellent; the remastering was done by Zal Schreiber and Steve Innocenzi. Highly recommended!
  2. I've relisted a few items. The auctions end Saturday 8/23.

    Anthony Braxton

    Montreux, not Montreaux.
  4. Simple explanation - it's a typo, they meant Oscar Peterson Plays....
  5. I'm looking for this CD (not a CD-R), but I'm not prepared to pay a very high price: Gerry Hemingway - Perfect World - Random Acoustics RA 019 PayPal is my only payment option. Please PM me if you're selling a copy or know where I can get one. Thanks.
  6. Less than a day to go
  7. Just heard on the news that Jerry Wexler died this morning. Another sad day for music.
  8. What I find very annoying is that some of those folks start acting like "jazz experts" on the Hoffman board once they've picked up a few of these reissues. They also keep calling jazz from the 1950s and 1960s "classic jazz"; they have no notion of what went on before the 1950s. I wonder if they really listen to the music
  9. Simple explanation: set #240 will be released later. As noted in a separate thread I started a while ago a few sets are still in preparation (Braxton, Goodman). Understood. But normally they're numbered in the order in which they're released. I guess #240 (Braxton or Goodman) was delayed beyond the originally anticipated release date. This has happened a few times before.

  11. Don't worry, Mosaic's Scott Wenzel told me the Akiyoshi/Tabackin Select won't be available for pre-order until mid-September at the earliest and it's scheduled for release in October
  12. Link works for me. Are any you guys familiar with this stuff? The samples sound great. Tried again and it works for me now too.
  13. Clicked on the link you posted but the Oscar Peterson set didn't show up. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel told me last Monday (8/11) that the set would not be up for pre-order until some time next week.
  14. I'm looking for this CD in Exc or better condition: Spinners - New and Improved - Atlantic/Rhino R2 71883 PayPal is my only payment option. Please PM me if you're selling a copy or know where I can get one. Thanks.
  15. According to Scott Wenzel the Braxton set will be up for pre-order in about a month or a little later.
  16. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me that the Oscar Peterson set will be up for pre-order in about a week and a half, the Akiyoshi/Tabackin set in about a month.
  17. Did the seller clearly limit the shipping destinations to the U.K. in the description of the item? If he didn't, he should ship to the United States, but if he did, why didn't you ask him before bidding if he'd be willing to ship to you?
  18. I have just listed a few CDs on eBay. Thanks for looking
  19. Probably the best of that era. I agree. It's a good quartet session with Chick Corea, Ron Carter and Grady Tate. I have the 1983 Verve CD issue and don't need an "upgrade"
  20. Probably the best of that era. I agree. It's a good quartet session with Chick Corea, Ron Carter and Grady Tate. I have the old 1983 Verve CD issue and don't need an "upgrade".
  21. It is. One of their best sets.
  22. Which ones are you talking about? Your post doesn't exactly provide much info... A list would be helpful. Edit: Are you referring to these recent reissues?
  23. I was wondering about that too. A few more details would be helpful, such as CD label and number, release date, things like that. Edit: Found some info. CBS France issued a set back in the 1980s, The Complete Duke Ellington (1947-1952), first on 6 LPs and later on CD. Here's the AMG review of the LP-set and here their review of the CD-set.
  24. Not a bad idea.
