  1. It's just past midnight over here, so... many happy returns!
  2. Hey, give the guy a break, he's got other things on his mind.
  3. Saw the Doors at the London Roundhouse at an all night concert in the summer of 1968. The Jefferson Airplane was the other group on the bill. THAT was an amazing concert. Jim Morrison was at the top of his game then! And looked great! And while they were changing the setup for the bands, the loudspeakers were blaring out 'Street Fighting Man' from the Rolling Stones 'Beggars Banquet' album which had just been released! I wrote a review (with accompanying photos) of the concert in the French magazine 'Rock and Folk'. Also ran into Jim Morrison a couple of times near the Place de l'Odeon on the Left Bank of Paris shortly before his death in 1971. He was staying in a hotel in the area by then. He had gained weight and had a thick beard by then. And looked in bad shape! Saw both bands in Amsterdam in 1968; it was probably the same tour. During the Jefferson Airplane concert Jim Morrison ran on stage and started dancing wildly, probably high as a kite... During the intermission he collapsed (or so I heard), and the Doors had to do their gig as a trio. They were worse than awful... The Airplane were great, though; Gracie Slick was wonderful.
  4. Etherbored is right, the TOCJ24s were/are remastered by Japanese engineers, not Rudy Van Gelder.
  5. Nurples! Nurples is what I meant to type. Hmmm... What are snurples... Of course, after a little Googling: snurple - Smurf-flavored Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. e.g., Excuse me, miss, do you have any snurples in stock? indeed...
  6. Haven't a clue...
  7. You'll find that many members here are in their 30s - 60s and beyond, and no, I'm not a saxophone player.
  8. Before non-U.S. Org members get too excited: yourmusic.com, like BMG, is for U.S. residents only
  9. but he does need 7 additional posts to start selling stuff, right? He's already pushing alto saxophones in the "Overlooked Altos" thread...
  10. May I ask how things are going? I was wondering about that, too.
  11. I've never heard of a "complete" Ayler box. His stuff came out on too many different labels (Impulse, ESP, Amercia, Freedom, Shandar, etc) for that kind of a collection. If you're refering to the Revenant box, it's great but not anywhere near a complete set of his recorded works. Then again, that was never the point. B-) I'd not start with the Ayler box, I'd get Witches and Devils (1201 Music), Spiritual Unity (ESP) and the complete Greenwich Village set (Impulse!) first.
  12. On my current system the Armstrong Columbia set doesn't sound that great, either. Get the JSP Hot Five/Hot Seven set, which was remastered by the late, great John R.T. Davies; it's a cheap alternative.
  13. I second that.
  14. Happy birthday.
  15. Happy birthday.
  16. Well, as I did the same, the answer is 'No', they don't count. Same goes for a few Mosaics I ordered last year
  17. The Miles Davis 1963-1964 Mosaic LP-set can now be pre-ordered here.

    Pink Freud??
  19. Happy birthday.
  20. Like the Gaelic name for Dublin, for instance: Baile Atha Cliath. I wonder how that is pronounced...
  21. According to the BBC at least 124,000 people died in the tsunami. The UN says the toll is nearing 150,000 and may never be known...
  22. It's January 1, 2005 here now, so have a great day!
