  2. AFAIK Blue Note/Capitol has the rights now. Takes Charge has been released on CD in 2002 edit: this only applies to Takes Charge, I gues (?) Capitol/EMI have the rights to the Riverside albums that Cannonball owned. They reissued most, if not all albums. I picked up these: Cannonball Takes Charge - Capitol Jazz 34071; released in 2002 Them Dirty Blues - Capitol Jazz 95447; released in 2000 Cannonball Adderley and the Poll-Winners - Capitol Jazz 20086; released in 1999 The Cannonball Adderley Quintet at the Lighthouse - Capitol Jazz 31572; released in 2001

Mwah, it's only 5:50 PM over here right now.

Glad I don't know this guy, seems to be a wacky character... (have to be careful here, he might sue)
  5. Interesting post. Could you give a few examples of a) and c)?

The answers to your questions are hidden in the thread, i.e. you can only find the answers by reading the whole thread.
  7. I could swear I was taught that " its' " was valid as a possessive pronoun when I was in school. My English teacher nearly got a heart attack every time someone used it's instead of its as a possessive pronoun. It's the apostrophe after the s that I thought used to be OK. I'm off to check my Oxford Concise again. Oops, sorry, thought it was a typo...
  8. Somethin' Else is the best Cannonball album, but I prefer the atmosphere and ambience on The Quintet in San Francisco.
  9. (Schaap is Dutch for sheep)

  11. Check out his profile.
  12. That's a classic - the wrong spelling (fuschia) seems to be winning...
  13. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. They probably picked that up when we were fighting the Spanish for our freedom from the mid-1500s to the mid-1600s... B-) they had 80 years for that you know. You want warre? Ha, but we won!
  14. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. hmm, I'm overasked with that. I have never run across it really. In olde English textes yes, but not in Dutch. "War" comes from "warre", which means entanglement, confusion, battle in medieval Dutch.

  16. nope, we only have "oorlog." And the ancient "krijg", like the German "Krieg".
  17. I just got an e-mail from Hiroshi on Tuesday stating that he couldn't find this one for me. Those Japanese Victor mini-LP CDs are OOP and very hard to find. Not as far as I know. The AP gold disc was remastered by Kevin Gray; he did an excellent job.
  18. My favorite version is the AP gold CD from the Riverside Tenor Sessions set, but that box is hideously expensive. My second choice would be the now OOP Japanese 20-bit Digital K2 remastered reissue, though I'm not sure I like the highs of that one. Unlike the AP, the Japanese version has the same bonus tracks as the OJC.
  19. Ah, those were the days... (sigh)
  20. prize instead of price.
  21. Kevin, I was just kidding; I found Greg's attitude very unpleasant at times, but I have no interest in attacking him, and certainly not in his absence.
  22. Hmm, pity Greg Maltz isn't around anymore (at least not here)

    New Fantasy SACDs

That's right, but if I remember correctly there were posts about the deterioration of the tapes on the Steve Hoffman forum. I had the Japanese Digital K2 remastered version, and that one didn't sound great.

    New Fantasy SACDs

I'd be surprised if Bags Meets Wes turned out to be a sonic upgrade; the tapes seem to be in a terrible state.
