  1. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. They probably picked that up when we were fighting the Spanish for our freedom from the mid-1500s to the mid-1600s... B-) they had 80 years for that you know. You want warre? Ha, but we won!
  2. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. hmm, I'm overasked with that. I have never run across it really. In olde English textes yes, but not in Dutch. "War" comes from "warre", which means entanglement, confusion, battle in medieval Dutch.

  4. nope, we only have "oorlog." And the ancient "krijg", like the German "Krieg".
  5. I just got an e-mail from Hiroshi on Tuesday stating that he couldn't find this one for me. Those Japanese Victor mini-LP CDs are OOP and very hard to find. Not as far as I know. The AP gold disc was remastered by Kevin Gray; he did an excellent job.
  6. My favorite version is the AP gold CD from the Riverside Tenor Sessions set, but that box is hideously expensive. My second choice would be the now OOP Japanese 20-bit Digital K2 remastered reissue, though I'm not sure I like the highs of that one. Unlike the AP, the Japanese version has the same bonus tracks as the OJC.
  7. Ah, those were the days... (sigh)
  8. prize instead of price.
  9. Kevin, I was just kidding; I found Greg's attitude very unpleasant at times, but I have no interest in attacking him, and certainly not in his absence.
  10. Hmm, pity Greg Maltz isn't around anymore (at least not here)

    New Fantasy SACDs

That's right, but if I remember correctly there were posts about the deterioration of the tapes on the Steve Hoffman forum. I had the Japanese Digital K2 remastered version, and that one didn't sound great.

    New Fantasy SACDs

I'd be surprised if Bags Meets Wes turned out to be a sonic upgrade; the tapes seem to be in a terrible state.
  13. The contraction it's of it is is often used as possessive pronoun of it, instead of its.
  14. What about "their" instead of "they're"; I see that a lot.
  15. The frog now knows the full meaning of acid rain...
  16. Have a great day!
  17. The discs have been mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound (see post #73 on page 4 of this thread).
  18. Sent you a PM.
  19. Don't bother on my account. I have a fundamental difference of opinion with Mike Ricci which I don't want to go into here, and I'm not interested in posting on AAJ anymore.

    Funny Rat

I'm listening to this disc right now. I'm not sure I like what I'm hearing, it's Mahanthappa's tone that's increasingly bothering me; it has a kind of "nagging" or "whining" quality that doesn't appeal to me. I have to revise my earlier comment: once I got used to Mahanthappa's tone I liked this disc a lot better. I will have to play it again soon, though. I've just listened to this CD for the third time now, and I have to revert to my original opinion, or even worse: I don't like it. I find Mahanthappa's playing flat, nothing special, and I don't like his tone. Time to sell this one and the Vijay Iyer CD Blood Sutra.
