I've just listened to this one for the first time: and I like it; pretty "subdued" Brötz.

Just listened to this one: and it's much better than I remembered; in fact, it's a great album, in spite of Irène Aebi's vocal efforts on the last track...
  3. Mosaic's Scott just e-mailed me that the release date of the Farmer / Golson / Jazztet Mosaic is set for early September.

  5. Look again. I'd rather not...

Seriously, I'm beginning to wonder what balloon and sine wave "playing" has got to do with music and musicianship. I don't get it, so please explain, David - or is it just some kind of feeling? You guys are note ready for the music of the future. You'd better train your ears now, before you start hearing balloon and sine wave music in every shopping mole, dentist's waiting room, elevator and presedential campaign advertising. Ah, I see, you mean "sounds of torture"...

  8. It's now July 7, 12.49 AM over here, so: have a great day!
  9. The 1962 date refers to the year the session was recorded. I guess you're right. AMG also lists 1962 as the release date at the bottom of this page under "album releases", but they aren't that reliable either...
  10. This site seems to suggest it was released in 1962. I couldn't find any other release date in my reference books or anywhere else.

  13. Which (in my opinion) means they're not good enough.
  14. I'm with you, J.A.W. That Greek team reminded me of the German teams from the Franz Beckenbauer era. Not really exciting to look at but effective. Yes, the Greeks deserved to win. They had the stamina to endure those difficult games. But after all is considered, the Euro2004 is more than a bit worrisome about the current state of soccer in Europe. No real individual great appeared among the younger elements. And the Old Guard grew older. They gave us plenty of joy several years ago, but no more. Not sure the next generation of players will be more exciting now that money has taken over soccer. yup, the type of football the Greeks played was cetainly not to my liking. Only on a higher level of observation where it obviously kicked the ass of all those big names. And with what? with a type of football the modern, fast game of the nineties supposedly had dealt with succesfully. The modern game had corroded itself, though, so back to the drawing board there and make sure it doesn't get rusty that fast again. I agree with you there (sigh) ()
  15. I couldn't agree more.
  16. I was merely talking about the "great" football of the fairly recent (1998 World Cup) and more distant past. I agree that the current "great" teams didn't play "great" football, on the contrary; the last two tournaments (2002 World Cup, Euro 2004) were a major disappointment in that respect, and I also hope the "majors" and their often arrogant and spoilt players () will have learnt their lesson - I'm not so sure about that, though... As for the Greek team, they deserved to win, of course, if only for the lack of an effective response from their opponents, and I admired the way they played as a team, but I really hated their "German" style of defensive play and counter football. But hey, that's just me...
  17. Greece had the best collective, but I didn't see them play much great football (and that's an understatement), and by "great" I mean some wonderful individual actions and attacking play. I'm a fan of attacking football as played by teams like, for instance, France, Argentina and the Netherlands in the 1998 World Cup, the great Brazilian and Dutch teams of the past and the like, and I don't like the kind of football the Greeks played, however effective.
  18. I'm glad the board's back up. Let's hope it'll stay that way...
  19. I'm not too fond of Rosolino's albums as a leader. I picked that one up because of Kamuca.
  20. You know we all had such problematic childhoods - we're desperately in need of a strong but loving father A figure like Wilhelm Tell, who almost shot his kid...
  21. Give me a break, Hans. I've worked on AAJ 10-14 hours a day for the last eight years. Database design, programming, web design, publishing, needs assessments, requirements planning... that's my job. I haven't got a problem with that, but saying that "AAJ’s look will also be a bit more refined" is quite a statement. More refined than what?

As long as you don't send them my way, I don't care... I was just on my way to the Post Office...
