Everything posted by J.A.W.

  1. This session was leased by Prestige and released on Prestige PRST-34001 (3LP-set).
  2. Leading up to a crash in the weekend?
  3. I keep getting 2 - 4 (and sometimes even more) notifications for each post in threads I've subscribed to and also for each PM, while at times I'm not getting any notifications at all...
  4. I just got an e-mail from Mosaic's Scott, and it seems Michael Cuscuna thought that unfortunately there wouldn't be too much of a market for a Dave Burns / Bill English / Al Grey / Billy Mitchell Vanguard sessions Mosaic; Scott told me they'd keep them in mind nonetheless.
  5. Yes it was, in 1996, but Vol.1 was remastered in 1998 and sounds better than the remastered 2CD-set.
  6. ...and many happy returns!
  7. Good news for blues lovers: according to the August 2004 issue of ICE magazine and CDUniverse Robert Johnson's King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol.2 will be released on CD on August 10. Let's hope this'll be just as good as the excellent reissue of Vol.1.
  8. I e-mailed Mosaic's Scott about it - you never know...
  9. Hmm, maybe an idea for a Mosaic Select?
  10. This is indeed a very nice album. I wish Vanguard would reissue this on CD, along with Dave Burns' self-titled album.

I share your feeling about MOONDOC. A competent player, sort of free bopper, but with no particular skills and lot of "clichés" in his play. I think his greatest talent is to surround himself with very good to great musicians. I own two or three (must check how much) records of his but never really listen to it. I can't accept statements like this as informed ones unless one heard Revolt of the Negro Lawn Jockeys Well, David, no one told you to accept anything. Is expressing an opinion or a feeling (like I did) a no no in this thread nowadays?? You' d better accept it Hans, since as you wisely noted expressing a disagreeing opinion is an absolute no no here. The best form for displaying your disagreement (of you dare to) is to start "David, you are of course absolutely correct, but I had an opinion [better use word "fallacy"] - before you were so kind to open my eyes, that...". I deleted the last sentence from my post before you posted your reply, but now I wish I hadn't. No further comment from me.

  13. Only once or twice, he sat on the bench most of the time. He wasn't good enough for Ajax. By the way, he's from Belgium.
  14. I should've seen this, of course...
  15. Ha, great, I'm really looking forward to the start of the season now!
  16. Gary, Do you know when the Premiership will return to BBC's Match of the Day, this season or next year?
  17. Don't want to upset you, but I'd be surprised if Southampton would do better than last season.
  18. Here's another BBC Vieira story; Morientes is an excellent player, but I hope Vieira will stay at Arsenal.
  19. Always nice to know you're appreciated...
  20. I think they are.
  21. What if (one of) the parents consented?

Like I said in the whisky thread, I don't do Islays
  23. If the kid is a minor, the parents are responsible and should be paying you (at least that's how it works over here).
