  1. Yeah, I've been listening to that one quite a bit since opening this topic. Great album for me.
  2. Great news! Any details?
  3. Right, but that is not this you know? I guess we wait. There is no middle ground here. I would imagine Lou Reed pairing up with a noisier band, but I guess that's a pretty trite idea.
  4. That guy gets sexier by the day.
  5. I read about this today. I guess I'm the only one here who thinks "SFW"? Metallica? That name used to look and sound so cool. This might be the first time I've ever typed it. Metallica? I guess I was 12. Metallica? Wasn't Susan Boyle's "Perfect Day" enough Lou?
  6. I have a feeling you guys are going to solve this with an argument.
  7. Since opening this thread, I have fallen in love with Harry Nilsson. His music too. The documentary was great, and led me to find his BBC stuff on youtube. This guy seems to have had an unusual charm that is so much more rare than talent. Plus he had the talent in spades. And creativity! What a story. A sad story with, what seemed to be, some truly happy moments. What gets me most is how I had only associated his name with a few songs. I had no idea how deep the well was. It makes me wonder how many more Schmilssons there are out there that have been marginalized with time. My opinion is that Harry Nilsson is a national treasure. Brilliant. Beautiful. Backed by the story of the tragic american dream. Thanks fellows.
  8. Tim Thomas has earned heroic status in Boston.
  9. I did something similar. I replaced a 12 year old Kenwood changer that had begun skipping with a Pioneer Elite Universal player (SACD, CD, DVD, etc, no bluray) on Craigslist for $100. I feel like I got a hell of a deal.
  10. I had to pull this off the shelf. I have the OJC and it actually sounds really good to me. Tons of character in Coltrane's sound and Earl May's bass especially. The piano seems to jump unexpectedly here and there, but I'd say the answer to your question is a solid NO. *I have not heard the DCC or any other $160 CD.
  11. Aside from the Cubs (WGN), we watched a lot of A Braves games. Richmond was the AAA farm team for years until recently. I was a big fan of Magic Johnson and the LA Lakers. My brother liked the Bulls. I was a huge Don Mattingly fan and wore a fitted Yankees cap that my dog had all but destroyed most of my grade school years. My dad's best friend is the greatest Auburn alum you will ever meet, so Inwas naturally a big Bo Jackson fan and chose the Raiders every time in Tecmo Bowl. Sports meant a lot more to me back then. I hardly sit through an entire Sportscenter anymore. Living in RI for a few years got me behind the Red Sox and Bruins. I'm still not an avid hockey fan, but things sure heated up last night!
  12. Nice. Thanks!
  13. It's obviously "Louie Louie".
  14. 1987 Chicago Cubs. I was ten.
  15. Yeah, I believe that's somewhere on Cosmic Tones, right? Music & Dance is a really fine record. Yes to Cosmic Tones For Mental Therapy.
  16. Yes. Today's Active Topics, and View New Content. Welcome!
  17. music is about living and right now you are doing some powerful improvising. that right there aloc is potent. Shawn, I enjoy reading you here and Facebook and have picked up on your situation through comments. I know you will make it. I know you can. We are here.
  18. I know there's another thread somewhere where Dan had challenged Nadal's tennis. I seem to recall you thinking he was a flash in the pan or one trick pony. Clay is obviously his surface with something like 18 losses out of 1,000 matches, but I think he has proved to the rest of us that he is now a historical figure in the the tennis world. I know that you watch a lot of tennis and it baffled me early on when you didn't see him as an up and coming world class player. Surely you have changed your opinion? And I just want to say that this post is not an attack on you Dan. Seems that needs to be said around here these days! Just wondering when/if your opinion of Rafael Nadal has changed over the years.
  19. I love this. I am in KC once a year and my schedule hasn't had much flexibility in five years. One of these days!
  20. I think college football is at it's tipping point, or damned close. It has blown up beyond belief. Everyone gets a piece except for the players. You know what I meant... students. College orchestra/choir/etc. not so much. What's the actual comparison there? AV Technicians? Am I missing it?
