The Mangelsdorff's and Kriegel's are killer!
-
Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet! The Caps aren't THAT good, and my Rangers are a scrappy bunch which plays defense and has great goaltending.
-
I hear ya, but not everything is worth reissuing 2 or 3 times over. Consider also that as stated above, Hat Art has lost a huge chunk of its funding. I much rather see them reissue the Willisau set and Dortmund 1976.
-
Garden was already reissued on 2 cd's by Hat Art.

Nice album! I'm currently listening to some pretty advanced trumpet playing on this: http://www.amazon.com/Unsung-Heroes-Brian-Lynch/dp/B004OOH28Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1302259848&sr=1-1

Geez, and I thought this was gonna turn into yet another Led Zep ragging thread! Oh wait, that's that other forum

It's too bad they have to play each other in the semi. I would have liked to have seen the possibility of both of those teams in the final. Me too--that would have been a beautiful finale! I didn't realize till just now that Shaka Smart is even younger than Brad Stevens... 33 years old! (Stevens is 34.) When was the last time you had two coaches under 35 in the Final Four? And two coaches who don't come across like sleezy dirtbags when you see them. Unusual these days in college coaching. Really? How is this unusual? AFAIK, they are ALL pimps to a certain degree. Even the Bear Bryants, Lou Carneseccas and Joe Paternos of the world! Blech!

Why? Luis Castillo to the rescue

Isn't that Gadd?

Let me know if you didn't get the gist of what I was saying.

These are interesting albums to my ears as well. Unfortunately, prevailing tastes here can sometimes come down to No Mobley = No Way!

It's going to be like when the music industry went after Napster. Almost hard to police. I'm on the side of the content providers. I subscribe to 70 magazines, pay for and read them all. I hope your Napster comparison is prescient: where's Napster today? Do YOU pay for them, or does your boss? I do. Bravo. Finally someone w/o a hypocritical bone in his body!

Not Long Island enough for you, you faux New Yawka?
-
I heard them play at the beginning of that tour at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ. A much more intimate experience than I had, I'm sure!
-
Bottom line: If you want a guarantee of great music with Motian, buy any of the Keith Jarrett American Quartet albums on ECM and Impulse. Added bonus: Dewey Redman!
-
Obviously you'd never heard of John Wetton? He was easily the equal of both Howe and Palmer in terms of musical talent!
-
After seeing Wetton in King Crimson with that MONSTER bass playing and tons of Marshall stacks, I was very disappointed to hear his playing virtually mixed out of the Asia experience. I saw Asia on their first tour (at the NJ Meadowlands --- blech) and they SUCKED big time.
-
Agree about the quintet tightening up on the Soul Notes, but Motian's early ECM's are well worth owning IMHO. I like them far better than his excursions with Lovano and Frisell. Those are just a little too "ambient" for my tastes. But I've never seen them live, where my impressions could very well change.
-
Above all else, I wholeheartedly recommend his first 5 albums (all on ECM): Conception Vessel Tribute Dance Le Voyage Psalm

Part of the problem for me with most of these pop artists is the overall poor production value inherent in their albums. A bigger problem for me is their tendency to use clearly mediocre musicians on these recordings. That being said, I believe that Elton had a great little band during the first half of the 70s. As far as Springsteen goes, BLECH! Not gonna go so far as to completely agree with you, but I will say that one of Bruce's mistakes was ditching the drummer on that album for (un)mighty Max.

As yet more 70s sounding American pop crap!
-
Why? We already have the definitive Stevie Wonder version!

Charlie Sheen quotes set to New Yorker cartoons
JETman replied to EyeSpeech's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Bull shit. Really? I think you'd get a different take from the director of Apocalypse Now. Yep, maybe Martin Sheen is ok now--I dunno. But for a long time he wasn't and I'm sure even if he's clean at the moment he battles addiction and impulses every day. Whether or not the Sheens are "decent people" is beside my point, but you speak rather pejoratively about people who have and still do battle addiction. It's a disease. Agreed. But it's a disease emulated in this case because Chuckie wasn't reined in as an obnoxious teenager. -

Bull shit. Really? I think you'd get a different take from the director of Apocalypse Now. Me neither. Looks like complete kaka. Funny show. Basically Charlie Sheen's life story. Apocalypse Now! Why because Martin Sheen had a heart attack during the shooting? From what I know about that film (and I know quite a lot) Sheen was one of the more sane people involved. Coppola was having his own delusions of grandeur on that shoot. When Sheen had the heart attack Coppola infamously said (on camera) "He's not dead until I say he's dead!" (Or something like that-- I don't have "Hearts of Darkness" with me right now.) Martin was a drugged up alcoholic during that shoot. Don't you think that is what may have led to his heart attack at such a young age? Anyway, it was reported that he had MANY way-outbursts during filming. Maybe enough to make Brando seem sane. He was very f'd up. If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now: Parents screw up kids.
