  1. Hm. Joe Namath's team wouldn't tolerate that arrogant bullshit by #23 after the last Jets touchdown. What a jerk. Go Steelers. Really? ALL professional athletes are arrogant in one form or another. As a lifelong Jets fan, I wasn't holding out much hope for them this year, or any year for that matter. But it looks like they just might surprise not only me, but EVERYBODY.
  2. YES, it does. Those records were so much "of their time" that's it's not even funny. That, to me, does not speak "classic" or "gem". It speaks "I NEVER need to hear THAT again".
  3. My parents played these records in the house when I was a kid. I never had the thoughts you're having about them! You're obsessed, dude. That's it, I'm waking up!
  4. All I can say is that you must be having a very boring Winter.
  5. All overblown! Besides, where else are you going to get 12 cd's for $87?
  6. You might want to consider a couple days downstate so you can check out the always vibrant NYC jazz scene in Greenwich Village, with the Vanguard among others within easy reach. If that's not doable, fly into Albany, rent a car there, and have at all of the upstate locales already mentioned. If you're at all into soccer, the Soccer Hall of Fame is located in nearby (to Cooperstown)Oneonta. Btw, experience with NY State Troopers has taught me to be careful about speeding in that area of New York, even on desolate roads.
  7. Why would you assume that? Everybody was bootlegging in the 60s and 70s. In any case, this was one helluva band. Definitely my favorite prog music. Fripp was/is a genius --- maybe one of the most criminally underrated rock guitarists of all time.
  8. Concert-wise, the biggest impact was made by my very first in November, 1972. The Fripp/Wetton/Bruford/Cross/Muir King Crimson who had only just formed and were embarking on their first tours. None of the music was familiar, but even with my inexperienced ears I could make out how they were playing structured pieces and songs but then moving between them with lengthy improvised passages. Spoilt me, I think. I'm very impatient with live concerts where performers play their latest album or greatest hits. I want to hear the music that might make the next album! I wish as was there as this band's music overall changed the way that I approached listening to music! You can be... Well for the first 40 minutes! If you are referring to the KC Collector's Club cd's, I have 'em all.

  10. I did it a little over 2 years ago with my then 11 year old son. It's definitely worth the trip, although the Hall of Fame was less "regal" than I would have expected. It's in a cute little town, with several better than average restaurants and lodging that is priced way higher than it should be. I drove from my neck of the woods just outside of NYC, so I stayed in Oneonta (just outside of Cooperstown) for alot less money. Parking was difficult to come by, but they do have lots from which you can take a bus directly to the Hall. Cool place which is good for 2 days max. Maybe you can combine this with a trip to another part of New York? FWIW, you'll run into more Red Sox fans in Cooperstown than you can shake a stick at
  11. Don't need five. Larks' Tongues in Aspic Starless & Bible Black Red
  12. Yeah, so? What's your point? Why don't we just cut to the chase: Piss off. Didn't realize you were the king of this thread. I guess 2 championships in 92 years gives you a sort of sense of entitlement, eh?
  13. Yeah, so? What's your point?
  14. The Yankees are the only team in professional sports which EXPECTS to win EVERY year. Yankee fans have bought into this mentality big time, and have the audacity to feel cheated if they do not get this. As a fellow Mets fan, I thought certainly you would understand this. Well, the Yankees have a lot of money and go and spend it as they fit. In the past they would spend willy nilly. I'm not sure the sons feel that way. At any rate, I don't the management acts like that. I think what you're referring to are the fans. Yes, they act like that, which is why it's fun to seethem get their comeuppance once in a while. I have to say the fans on this Forum aren't like that, mostly the ones in the NY metro area. Dave is! Most of the Yankee fans on this forum are NOT from the NY metro area. I do not get this, but hey, it's trendy to be a Yankee fan

  16. Yet another sign of the sense of entitlement that seems to run rampant in Yankeeland. It's difficult to think that Bronx residents can possibly feel entitled to anything.
  17. Grand total for me is 117.
  18. That made my day!
  19. As a close observer of all things NY (I've lived in the damned state all of my life, after all), my feeling is that it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for the Yankees and their fans to finally receive a VERY serious dose of humble pie right about now.
  20. Nice! My first musical hero. I still remember my shock when Cosell announced his death during Monday Night Football. I stood in front of the Dakota that Friday evening. Very sad day for me. I named my daughter "Julia" in his honor.
  21. See Ed Whitson, Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano for further proof.
  22. The Yankees do not have to make a "fistful" of dollars from the stadium built around "the little league field"!!! For those paying attention, the YES network is where it's at for them. Jeter played a large part in building the largesse gained in TV revenue by the Steinbrenners. He was the star player, main attraction and good soldier. How big a piece of that he should get is anyone's guess. I say that he deserves a large chunk, and that the Yankees can well afford to subsidize the back ends of 100s of ill-advised contracts signed between now and the end of the universe.
  23. Because Creed Taylor was a HORRIBLE producer, and Manfred Eicher is not!!!! Really, it's the difference between a man who is not afraid to take chances, and one who produced the same old, same old trying to recreate the golden age of jazz with strings, no less!
  24. It most certainly is NOT.
  25. Although many here are fans of only straight ahead jazz, I do not fit into that group. I wholeheartedly stand by my original statement. My ears must be hearing things in a different way than yours are.
