  1. The faulty one is still for sale at amazon; the faulty downloads are still on itunes; they never replaced the last faulty version of this title. I'd say bring it back to the store and wait to repurchase until you know it's been fixed. I think they will continue to sell stock they have until it is exhausted, and maybe even reprint; the percentage of returns may be low, the costs and trouble of resetting it quite high. Maybe it will get redone, but we're not aware of any firm commitment, and keeping the faulty version on sale looks like a commitment to something else...
  2. He's also got the best site on the web: http://www.nessarecords.com/ Sorry Chuck, some joshing was needed... We're all looking forward to reading it once you, you know... get round to it...
  3. Wait and see is putting it mildly. The statement you posted contadicts all the audiophile hype. However I still hold out some hope for the mono set.
  4. Interesting. Very inclined to the mono box here... then add in the later titles in stereo if I get that far. SACD would have been better. Mono vinyl a dream! All of that said, I'll wait for reports on sound. I've very nearly given up on reissues of all types and have a little bit lost interest in all recently recorded music as well - I just don't share the fondness for glare which (I guess) is the only sort of mix that will work on an ipod.
  5. This does not need a new thread as it has all been covered comprehensively in this (amazing) thread: David Ayers: My Struggle. That thread also covers stuff like how I once tried to speak to someone semi-well known at a gig, what I think of Grant Green on the basis that I played guitar twenty years ago, and how one of my Mosaic sets is number 4,999.
  6. The Quintet box now seems to be off sale, so congrats. to all who got in on this one. Seven Steps and JJ still going but who knows how much longer...
  7. Enrico Rava, New York Days - great record. For Rava's stuff on ECM you need to search on title - a lot of them are filed as being by Palle Danielsson By way of contrast, dipped into Wynton's new one, He and She... with POETRY! :rsmile:
  8. I notice that amazon.co.uk no longer sells the new copy of this CD (copies still available from sellers). Hopefully that means the duff issues are no longer being sent out - an important first step.
  9. It's a poor show to say the least that the defective version is still on the market all over the world, and that the defective downloads are still on sale from itunes and elsewhere. Even the sound samples on the website feature the error.
  10. He means the 4-CD Braxton quartet set, right? I may have to sell mine to bail out the British economy... right now it is worth more than the Isle of Wight
  11. John Handy, Live at Monterey 2nd JH Album, Projections and New View! all lined up...
  12. Oh and in a non-jazz vein I've been enjoying Philippe Jaroussky, Opium http://open.spotify.com/album/4KgqzBzpJSEl0IUgCoMXZU - careful - you might start to like it...
  13. I have to correct myself here... the faulty RVG edition is also on the EU market. I just received a copy of the EU edition as a birthday present - same problem as the one described here. Let's see if I ever get a replacement for it. I'm still waiting for a replacement of the 1995 edition, so don't hold your breath!
  14. Maybe it will come back as a Select? Good set, but maybe the sound could do with some work.
  15. Maye you should A/B the mastering on Deezer and Spotify...
  16. In fact Four for Trane is on Spotify. By the way, is the Spotify thread a ghetto for folks who are too cheap to "own" things? Before long we'll be getting lumped together with the Andorran pirates, and all that goes with it...
  17. Maris Janssons, Shostakovich 8, with the Pittsburgh SO
  18. On my list of things to do! In fact I made a playlist of all the Lausanne recordings... http://open.spotify.com/user/davidayers/pl...5ahJIkUBYqLhTru
  19. An Interview with John Coltrane. Uhh, it's an interview.
  20. So act now and don't let them jazztet your rear zone on this one!
