Strange little catalogue, with the 2 mainstream titles in there. You can get the Birigwa and Natural Food albums on CD from Porter still. Both are interesting in a time capsule sense I guess, but neither did much for me. ymmv.

Glad the CD edition is confirmed. The price differential alone is eye-popping.

Another LP reissue of this one is coming. Sonics on the Paul Bley ezz-thetics CD are excellent, I'd recommend picking it up for anyone who likes this music. A little disappointing that only "Blood" is represented from that album due to space limitations, but this will definitely be my go-to for Touching.

NoBuisness released an excellent 2xCD that has the Anima date New York Collage paired with an unreleased session. Highly recommended. Sweet Space and Untitled Gift are both great as well. Frank Lowe on the former, Don Cherry on the latter. They were released as a CD set in 2004, but you'd be better off searching for the original LPs as that one is very hard to come by.

This record has an excellent companion in Roach's Speak Brother, Speak-- another Jazz Workshop session from two years earlier, also a lean quartet with Clifford Jordan, also two long tracks, also with the whole band playing at their peak.

One of his very best records. He definitely played the best bass of his life in 64/65, especially after the Europe tour if you ask me.

I don't have it anymore, but I did like it when it came out. It's a very odd record; Motian barely playing, Mehldau playing very weird stuff, Konitz off in his own world practically .... I never even noticed what Haden was up to. It's an interesting one for sure that I might like to revisit.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure he purchased the rights to these albums rather than leased them.

Not fantastically so, but definitely a bit drier and more “true”. Certainly worth hearing but I must say that I’ve only spun the original LPs a couple times each vs. many dozens of the ECM.

Feels like at the very least a missed opportunity to reissue the 1961 albums with the original Verve mixes ...

Yes! He was on the tip of my tongue. Beyond those 3 I know I've encountered it here & there but that's what I know for sure from modern times off the top of my head .

Braxton has played it before (most notably on the 1985 UK tour recordings), and Allen Lowe uses it pretty often too!

Are these legit? I see the series that did Dogon, NTU, Under The Sun, Porto Novo, and Hamba Kahle advertised below them, and I'm nearly certain those are bootlegs. Is this is the same label?

The Owl recordings would make a nice little package I think ... Wende, Third Stream Recompositions, and the first CD appearances of Realization of a Dream (a personal favorite), Vertigo (another one of his very best) and Portfolo of Doktor Mabuse
