  1. Well let's see, had Hank Mobley's No Room For Squares for about 3 months now...
  2. Who's this cat, Bird anyway.
  3. When I click on the album picture, instead of getting a larger image of the cover, it opens up a new page...
  4. I used to be obsessed with collecting records/cds. At one time I wanted to get every Blue Note album ever made and have a collection. Now I'm more interested in mastering my instrument, spending all day practicing, and investing my money in my hobby, model trains. I don't get attatched to records that much. Mostly, I just want to hear albums that I have seen. I would probaly just by a record or borrow it, play it, get to know it, make a tape of it or something, and that's it. I haven't had any luck selling anything. I sure would like to start though,
  5. Never got rid of a cd ever. Lost a few though...
  6. It's cool because there are no Green preformances on video. I would rather see Green in B&W in the 60's with a trio. *Theres also a nice version of Sunny, by Pat Martino with Joey D on youtube.
  7. Day is Done, is my only Mehldau album. From what I heard, it's pretty good. The version of She's Leaving Home is beautiful. I also like 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. He's definately got talent. I like him.
  8. Damnit!
  9. This is old. Been up there for a while.
  10. I just got word Metheny's releasing an album the day after my birthday. Anyone have any info on this?
  11. He liked Blue Note, then liked Verve, but then liked Blue Note again.
  12. I find this band very interesting. Every time I listen to them, mainly Livery Stable Blues, it feels like a history lesson that I actually enjoy. I couldn't listen to their music all day long though. Thank goodness for the evolution of recording technology.
  13. Why? IMO, there are few comtemporary jazz musicians who can hold a candle to the guys you've been listening to. Even if there were a bunch of them, they are mostly doing variations on the same theme. Why not stick with the originals? Up over and out. If that's true, jazz has a bad future.
  14. Doesn't make the date better. No, but it was somewhat, a turning point in jazz history. Talking about its significance, not how enjoyable it is.
  15. Yeah, but I like his stuff, and it still sounds fresh to me.
  16. I have a question about Metheny. Is Trio 99-00 the album that has 'Go Get It?'
  17. If it wasn't for the Sidewinder, there would be no Gigilo, Cornbread, Procrastinator, etc. And not to mention Caddy for Daddy, and other BN boogalo tunes like that. The only discussion about the Sidewinder should be how it grooves, and how the tunes showcased Morgan as a terrific writer. If you don't dig it, that's fine. I don't really care.
  18. We have to get you to the hospital. That is one of the greatest albums of all time! Lee Morgan or not. Henderson's solo on Sidewinder is outrageous! Listen to the album a few more times. It'll sink in.....
  19. 40. Steve Nelson
