  1. In which Allen film is there a scene where he's about to be shot by a firing squad and jumps over the wall, only to find another firing squad on the other side about to execute a guy? It might be Casino Royale, in which he has a farily small role. I remember liking 'Love And Death', but I haven't seen it in years. Bertrand.
  2. I will be in LA 1/27-1/31. Do you know anywhere else he might be during that period? If it's at the same time that month, I may luck out. I must make sure to book my flight for 1/27 in order to arrive early enough. I'm seeing Wayne on 1/28, and a Lee Morgan tribute on 1/30 (details soon). If I can see Freddie Redd as well, that will just be awesome!!! I have phone number for Freddie, I'll try to call him before I fly out. I'll check that website you mentioned as the date approaches. Thanks for the heads up. This news made my day! Bertrand.
  3. 1. The catalog clearly states on the second page that it is only a fraction of their total holdings. No need to panic (yet). 2. Is this a concensus that e-music mp3s sound better than iTunes? I've never heard e-music, but iTunes sound fine to me. Can I put e-music stuff on my iPod? Bertrand.
  4. Blue Note didn't think of using the vinyl because ... no one seems to have noticed this (fairly minor) problem before. I probably would have missed it if it were not right in the beginning. Bertrand.
  5. Lelouch is a hack. Bertrand.
  6. What are chewy chords??? I'm sorry you guys weren't in DC tonight as originally planned. Any news on a new date? Make sure it's not between 1/27 and 2/1 - I'm in LA Bertrand.
  7. As who would. Bertrand.
  8. A lot of Fantasy CDs are also on iTunes at $6-7 a pop. Sometimes you can buy all the individual tracks, sometimes not. I doubt those will be pulled when the physical CDs are. Bertrand.
  9. Except Concord's reissues are legal. Bertrand.
  10. I had no clue Bill Evans and Wes Montgomery were Spanish. This board is such an education to me Bertrand.
  11. You guys are forgetting that Wynton Marsalis recorded it with Buddy Bolden years before Monk. In fact, he wrote it. Bertrand.
  12. Jim, I'm very sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Please know that all your friends here at organissimo are thinking about you. Sincerely, Bertrand.
  13. Wayne Shorter on: Steely Dan - Aja Rolling Stones - one track from Bridges To Babylon (possibly How Can I Stop?) Don Henley - The End Of The Innocence Also, tracks with Bruce Hornsby and Colin James Hay And of course, he's been on every Joni Mitchell album since 1978 (Don Juan's Reckless Daughter) Bertrand.
  14. It's only half an album though! Bertrand.
  15. Bad news - the set has been delayed again. Vincent Wilburn wants Sony to add a sticker that says: '2005 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee'. Bertrand.
  16. Wow, the distortion has been there for a while. It's odd because it's not like 'Millie' has been compiled ad nauseam, unlike say 'Song For My Father', for which we know the tape is now permanently damaged So, what Blue Note tracks (or entire sessions) have unfixable sonic issues? Time to back up the master tapes! These are the ones I know of off-hand: 1. Millie 2. Song For My Father 3. The Rock 4. Plaza De Toros (mentioned in the Mosaic Larry Young booklet) - this one is fairly minor I'm sure there are others. There are also entire sessions where Rudy effed up (The Witch Doctor, Grant Green's Standards), but these are a bit different - even the vinyl was distorted (and neither of these sessions came out right away, perhaps for this very reason). Are there any Blue Note sessions that were released at the time that had sonic problems? Did anyone notice at the time? Bertrand.
  17. Man, Jumior Cook sure sounds like Joe Henderson on his solo on the last track, 'Straight Up And Down'! Maybe Joe is really the tenor on the two last tunes (where the pianists are also switched); let's start a poll Bertrand.
  18. Thanks, I figured the distortion was in the tape. I'm still curious if it's in the Mosaic as well. I'm not surprised you should own this record . I was put off at first on my first listen, but I'm on my second go-round and I'm liking it more and more! Once again, I confirm that you can't judge music after one superficial listen. This is one of Wayne Shorter's pet peeves. Bertrand.
  19. Just got the Boss Horn RVG from yourmusic. There's some serious distortion on the first five seconds of 'Millie', the opening track. Kinda like in the beginning of 'The Rock' on the Patton Mosaic, but even louder. Is it just me? Was it in the Blue Mitchell Mosaic box as well? Thanks, Bertrand.
  20. This is the most repugnanat thread ever. Bertrand.
  21. Boy, I'm seeing a real ugly side to my fellow board members. Some of you guys seem completely ignorant of how fucking stupid your behavior is. Bertrand.
  22. Please get the help you need. I don't want to hear that one of my fellow board members killed someone in a drunk driving accident. Bertrand.
  23. These are all positive traits in my book. Bertrand.
  24. Any new coupons? Bertrand.
  25. Are you saying that we torpedoed any hopes of Organissimo signing with Sony and Blue Note Bertrand.
