Is this listed in any Ornette discography: (143) Box Office (1981) dir. Josef Bogdonavich full movie - YouTube

Here is the movie! Definitely Ornette Music with lots of strings, and Freddie in a quartet with Philly Joe, Al McKibbon and Teddy Edwards. Who can grab the audio? (143) Box Office (1981) dir. Josef Bogdonavich full movie - YouTube

"Ready For Freddie Redd" on Night Lights
bertrand replied to ghost of miles's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
There are many private recordings of Freddie from the DC/Baltimore years, some with Butch Warren, including a fabulous House Party (check YouTube for video). Wish all this could be out there for all to enjoy in memory of my late friend, but of course things are not that easy. -
Yes, I think so. That would be supplementary audio to the LP I was thinking of. Is that out there to watch? Looking back, I see that I wrote ' Sounds like a great 2-CD set if anyone cares'. 'If anyone cares' was my way of staving off the usual barrage of 'it will never sell' type of comments from the usual suspects. Epic fail.

You have me stumped, but I know nothing about Flea. Not James Taylor, I assume. Freddie plays organ on Carolina On My Mind. On the topic of Josef Bogdanovich, I can't believe I did not give more details at the time. Freddie mentioned him in connection with Herbie Nichols. This conversation took place at An Die Musik, so probably in 2012/2013. Freddie said that he helped Bogdanovich book a jazz series in the 50s. One of the artists was Herbie Nichols and, get this, Freddie remembered the concert being FILMED. Now Freddie was not a person who was into specifics, but if he mentioned something this from 50-60 years before, there is a good chance there is some truth to it. Even new audio of Nichols would be a find, and live! So let's get to the bottom of this. How do we proceed?

Who is Walter Urban? I was always curious about all these people who took Freddie under their wings over the years. He was a very personable guy and quite the charmer. Check out the Piano Jazz episode.

Thanks! How can one contact Wayne about the extra material for discographical purposes? Update: the Supplementary material is on the website, i.e. you can listen to clips. So still not clear if the book has a CD in it also, or if the clips are the only way to get the music. Maybe I can write to the publisher, unless Wayne is willing to answer. There are three tracks with Mary, two I think unissued. And some rarities with Chick Corea!

Ari Ambrose on tenor on this one, no Gary Thomas.

So the forthcoming release by Alex Norris will be a real CD?
-
Older titles are definitely CD-Rs. Are the new titles not CD-Rs? Maybe they are doing real CDs for the first pressing and CD-Rs after.

I am sure I read it several times. It is not some insider knowledge I have.

Sonny's ailments are a direct result of inhaling all the toxic fumes on 9/11. He lived in the neighborhood.

Oops, wrong thread. Moderator: please move to new releases - thanks! And it's Freddie Redd, not Freddie Warren. Duh. Thanks for moving and correcting!

Both the Freddie Redd CD mentioned earlier and a Butch CD with Freddie, Brad Linde and Matt Wilson are available now on Brad's Bandcamp page! Baltimore Jazz Loft | Butch Warren & Freddie Redd | Brad Linde (bandcamp.com) Reminiscing | Freddie Redd | Brad Linde (bandcamp.com)

Man, I don't have the other two. They should put out a box.

The Berlin date is amazing and should be officially released, if only for the octet version of Moto Grosso Feio. Where did the studio version of Directions that was on the Forecast Tomorrow Box set come from? I suspect there are a number of out-takes, including the Miroslav's Tune discussed above.

No specifics were given, and I think it was pre-recorded, so no Q & A. 200 tapes were also mentioned. I have heard so many different numbers thrown around regarding how many concerts were actually recorded among the 1,000 or so they programmed. I don't think they know for sure, nor does Vic Zeldman the detective. This will be a monthly series on WEAA apparently, it might be archived. My guess is George Coleman will be next. Not sure about future weeks, I guess they could talk about the two Uptown sets...
