  1. So I will never be able to purchase this?
  2. It's just weird how the booklets look like photocopies. You would think Fripp would be more picky.
  3. Just got Larks' Tongues and Starless (30th anniversary editions) from Barnes And Noble. I am surprised at how poorly reproduced the covers are, although the CDs look legit. These aren't CD-Rs, are they? They also have them at Amazon and it says nothing about CD-Rs, which usually it would on Amazon. It would really surprise me since Fripp is such a control freak. They even have a disclaimer about exploitative artists contracts, so if these were CD-Rs, that would be quite the irony. Thanks, Bertrand. P.S. I know they are more expanded versions out there (40th anniversary, Japanese, $800 boxes etc.). I just can't keep track, and I am not a KC completist. I just wanted these two which have always been among my favorite KC records.
  4. A quick listen does not show any obvious pitch error. What sounds weird is the bass. But all 7 tracks are shorter than on the iTunes version which does suggest that they might have sped it up. Either that, or each track was edited to fit on one CD (the total is actually under 80 minutes). The 2 CD version can be had in the Ed Blackwell box. Can it be had separately (again, non CD-R)? I already have most of the sessions in the box. Thanks, Bertrand.
  5. I read in some music guide that the original CD version is mastered at the wrong speed, but that the later version (on 2 CDs with a bonus track) is correct. I will pull out my version tomorrow, but if anyone already knows the answer, please let me know. This would explain why I always thought this CD sounded weird, and also how they fit over 80 minutes of music on one CD (by speeding it up?). Can a non CD-R version of the 2-CD set be found anywhere? Thanks, Bertrand.
  6. What is the bonus track on the Donaldson?
  7. Going to see Wayne in Charlottesville VA on Tuesday. It was a last minute announcement for a benefit. Not the quartet, though. Bertrand.
  8. I am missing Volume 2 as well - drives me nuts.
  9. Two places to try in Baltimore: An Die Musik (ask for Sean Johnson on my behalf) and Caton Castle (try to talk to Robert Shahid). That's something to start with. An Die fills up fast so call soon.
  10. Is this a recent Girls plot twist? Yikes - Dunham will look for any excuse to get nekkid. Bertrand.
  11. Anyone ever find out if Woods is still playing? Bertrand.
  12. I actually had the following dream a couple of days ago: I went to the ESP office in NYC to get 'the new Ayler record'. The office staff consisted of four gorgeous twenty-something women who liked to work in the buff. No sign of Stollman. Of course I woke up right after Bertrand.
  13. The first five records are great, as are the 2 Hatfields. Heard Cunning Stunts and Blind Dog and do not need to get those. I have a download of Live 1990. How is Caravan and the New Symphonia? Did this one come out after Plump and before Cunning Stunts? Bertrand.
  14. I am wondering about the actual music, not the remastering. Bertrand.
  15. How is Donald Byrd's I'm Trying To Get Home? Bertrand.
  16. I ordered the first five Caravans and the two Hatfields. Lots of music on the way. Bertrand.
  17. Jim, I this the same Charlie Young who teaches at Howard University and is the musical director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra? Bertrand.
  18. So based on your timing, it sounds like Amazon's is probably OK. Thanks.
  19. The only one I forgot to mention is the first album. How is that one? Bertrand.
  20. I am really digging my vinyl of In The Land of Grey And Pink, as well as a Live 1990 session I downloaded. I plan to buy the CDs of Grey And Pink, If I Could Do It All Over..., Waterloo Lily and For Girls Who Grow Plump. Any others worth picking up? I know some of the later ones are not supposed to be very good. Thanks, Bertrand.
  21. What a mess! So, here is a summary: 1) We don't know if the digital version (currently available from Amazon etc.) has the wrong speed or not. 2) The physical copy that was for sale is out of stock. This one had the wrong speed. 3) Emanem has a corrected version. What is Emanem and how do I purchase this from them legally? 4) The bonus track is from 7/10/64. So I can either: 1) Download the extra song, but ONLY if someone has done so and can confirm whether or not that track is at the wrong speed. 2) Buy the corrected version from Emanem. 3) Live without it. Bonus question: how can you tell if Ayler is at the wrong speed Bertrand.
  22. I had read those things and they all are sloppily written. My understanding is that yes, it is from the same sessions and they mean to say it is the same composition as the one labeled on subsequent recordings as 'Vibrations'. So yes, I think it's from the same session. Does anyone else disagree? Bertrand.
  23. Is the bonus track 'Vibrations' also from the 7/10/64 session? Thanks, Bertrand.
  24. Do we know when this was recorded? Bertrand.
  25. A check is on the way.
