  1. This one is much maligned. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Bertrand.
  2. I saw Iverson once in a trio and he did a preconcert talk in which he also displayed that arrogant NY attitude. Made a lot of statements that were incorrect, IIRC.
  3. Are we 100% sure every track is unissued? I find it hard to believe they ever played The Orphan live...
  4. Can't find my way around the new site. 1) On the plus side, I have a $40 credit. When does it expire? 2) On the minus side, I can't find the stuff that was available for streaming, but not downloading. Example: Dewey Redman in NYC 1974. How do I find these? 3) I can still find the $5 downloads. Have they added any jazz recently? Thanks, Bertrand.

    iTunes Blues

I am about to copy all my music to an external, and eventually point iTunes to the external. So are you saying I will lose the playlists? I know where the music is stored on my local drive, but where are the playlists stored? I need to clear my local drive which is almost full. I was going to copy the whole local drive to the external, then delete the music from the local drive. Since I assume the playlists are somewhere on C:, will this guarantee that iTunes will still recognize the playlists once I start pointing to the external? I also hope to just keep the external connected at all times. Bertrand.
  6. Has anyone had a chance to watch this yet? Bertrand.
  7. We have an informal celebration of Herbie Nichols going on in DC these days. It is pretty open-ended so I am not sure how long it will go on. The US Army Blues' guitarist Michael Kramer put together a spectacular program which was presented at the Smithsonian and Fort Myer. Full video of the Fort Myer concert is available on YouTube, the easiest way is to google 'US Army Blues Herbie Nichols'. Enjoy! Bertrand.
  8. Miles recorded 'The Collector' as 'Teo's Bag' and gave himself composer credit. I do see a kinship with 'Riot'. Bertrand.
  9. Just ordered two more tee-shirts. I LOVE the one I got in Harrisburg! Plus I am getting a lot of positive comments, and it may have even gotten you a gig (no promises)! Bertrand.
  10. On the Shihab/Farmer/Jordan, which track does each of them appear on?
  11. So who wrote 'Ruby'? I have Mitchell Parish/Heinz Roemheld for the Jimmy Ponder version. Bertrand.
  12. What offer are you guys referring to?
  13. '...made with the willing involvement of each artist. The album is the end result of multiple deliberate and dedicated recording sessions done with the willing participation and consent of Mr. Coleman and the other performers.' If they did not know to make sure to do all the legal paperwork with Denardo, with the specific financial details clearly spelled out, then they were hopelessly naïve. If they did and the lawsuit contradicts what the signed agreement said, then they may not be at fault. But it could also be that there was a contract and they did not stick to what was agreed upon. Hard to tell what kind of 'consent' they got from Ornette. if it was just oral, then they goofed big time. Ornette could well have said yes, but they needed a lot more than that. Ornette certainly would have asked for enough money to warrant a detailed legally binding agreement. Curious to see how this plays out. Bertrand.
  14. So would it violate the board rules to openly request a burn of this :) Bertrand.
  15. The Smithsonian show was a blast! It was great to finally meet and hear Larry. See you guys in Harrisburg in a bit. Bertrand.
  16. Dang, I thought the two Harrisburg shows were the same day. Now I guess I have to pick one Bertrand.
  17. As posted elsewhere, organissimo had to be postponed thanks to Ted Cruz and John Boehner, but will be playing next Thursday 5/21 (finally!). The Take 5 series has been really going strong, and I am having a blast putting these programs together. In September, the Army Blues will do big band arrangements of Herbie Nichols music. Not something you see everyday! Bertrand.
  18. I will be at the DC show of course, and I also plan to hit the two Harrisburg shows since it's only 2 hours away from DC. How do you get tickets for the second place? I can't seem to find a link or anything. I also need to call them about their menu. Note: Smithsonian is not an encore performance, alas, it is a rescheduling of a show that had to be postponed due to 'national events' (think Green Eggs and ham for 24 hours). Bertrand.
  19. I saw that this just came out, and includes a DVD from a Paris concert I attended! 1) It's on the Arthaus Music label - anyone familiar with it? 2) Region Code is 0, so that works in the U.S., correct? Thanks, Bertrand.
  20. So I will never be able to purchase this?
  21. It's just weird how the booklets look like photocopies. You would think Fripp would be more picky.
  22. Just got Larks' Tongues and Starless (30th anniversary editions) from Barnes And Noble. I am surprised at how poorly reproduced the covers are, although the CDs look legit. These aren't CD-Rs, are they? They also have them at Amazon and it says nothing about CD-Rs, which usually it would on Amazon. It would really surprise me since Fripp is such a control freak. They even have a disclaimer about exploitative artists contracts, so if these were CD-Rs, that would be quite the irony. Thanks, Bertrand. P.S. I know they are more expanded versions out there (40th anniversary, Japanese, $800 boxes etc.). I just can't keep track, and I am not a KC completist. I just wanted these two which have always been among my favorite KC records.
  23. A quick listen does not show any obvious pitch error. What sounds weird is the bass. But all 7 tracks are shorter than on the iTunes version which does suggest that they might have sped it up. Either that, or each track was edited to fit on one CD (the total is actually under 80 minutes). The 2 CD version can be had in the Ed Blackwell box. Can it be had separately (again, non CD-R)? I already have most of the sessions in the box. Thanks, Bertrand.
  24. I read in some music guide that the original CD version is mastered at the wrong speed, but that the later version (on 2 CDs with a bonus track) is correct. I will pull out my version tomorrow, but if anyone already knows the answer, please let me know. This would explain why I always thought this CD sounded weird, and also how they fit over 80 minutes of music on one CD (by speeding it up?). Can a non CD-R version of the 2-CD set be found anywhere? Thanks, Bertrand.
