  1. You should have questioned my info, I was just kidding about texting Wayne If he knew this existed, he would have a cow. I am glad you ordered it, if only to tell me the sound quality is acceptable enough for me to order it was well. Here is what needs to be issued legally with all permissions etc: the 9/3/71 Berlin radio broadcast. A whole side of Weather Report most people don't know, including some octet charts and a version of 'Moto Grosso Feio'. AMAZING concert. Bertrand.
  2. Well, I pulled the plug on my credit card which was on life support :)
  3. OK, just pulled the plug. What made up my mind were the following comments from Jim Sangrey: Wayne didn't bring a knife to a gunfight, he brought a freakin' atomicbeamlaserbomb. Wayne might prefer to be all Zen-y peaceful and shit, but dig, the guy still came from Newark, still came up with Blakey & Miles, and I don't think that you would want to get into any kind of a showdown with Wayne Shorter, even today. Bertrand. I texted Wayne and he texted me back. Everyone involved including the estates etc. have signed off on this so it is all legit. Bertrand.
  4. Complicated! Are the ones from Schizoid shop only available that way, or maybe also on Amazon etc.? So I need to identify the ones I might want, see if they are on CD, and if not get the download. The DGM site gives sound quality ratings, so that is nice. Again, just trying to get a few, maybe one from the original band, one from 1973 and one from 1974. Not sure about the 1972 band. Bertrand.
  5. So the DGM material are downloads. But some of these are also on CD, right, or all those CDs out of print? I want to get a few KC live shows, but not go totally nuts. I am trying to figure out the best route to go. I definitely want to get the 69 Hyde Park show. Is a download from DGM the only way to get this? Thanks, Bertrand.
  6. This one is much maligned. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Bertrand.
  7. I saw Iverson once in a trio and he did a preconcert talk in which he also displayed that arrogant NY attitude. Made a lot of statements that were incorrect, IIRC.
  8. Are we 100% sure every track is unissued? I find it hard to believe they ever played The Orphan live...
  9. Can't find my way around the new site. 1) On the plus side, I have a $40 credit. When does it expire? 2) On the minus side, I can't find the stuff that was available for streaming, but not downloading. Example: Dewey Redman in NYC 1974. How do I find these? 3) I can still find the $5 downloads. Have they added any jazz recently? Thanks, Bertrand.

    iTunes Blues

I am about to copy all my music to an external, and eventually point iTunes to the external. So are you saying I will lose the playlists? I know where the music is stored on my local drive, but where are the playlists stored? I need to clear my local drive which is almost full. I was going to copy the whole local drive to the external, then delete the music from the local drive. Since I assume the playlists are somewhere on C:, will this guarantee that iTunes will still recognize the playlists once I start pointing to the external? I also hope to just keep the external connected at all times. Bertrand.
  11. Has anyone had a chance to watch this yet? Bertrand.
  12. We have an informal celebration of Herbie Nichols going on in DC these days. It is pretty open-ended so I am not sure how long it will go on. The US Army Blues' guitarist Michael Kramer put together a spectacular program which was presented at the Smithsonian and Fort Myer. Full video of the Fort Myer concert is available on YouTube, the easiest way is to google 'US Army Blues Herbie Nichols'. Enjoy! Bertrand.
  13. Miles recorded 'The Collector' as 'Teo's Bag' and gave himself composer credit. I do see a kinship with 'Riot'. Bertrand.
  14. Just ordered two more tee-shirts. I LOVE the one I got in Harrisburg! Plus I am getting a lot of positive comments, and it may have even gotten you a gig (no promises)! Bertrand.
  15. On the Shihab/Farmer/Jordan, which track does each of them appear on?
  16. So who wrote 'Ruby'? I have Mitchell Parish/Heinz Roemheld for the Jimmy Ponder version. Bertrand.
  17. What offer are you guys referring to?
  18. '...made with the willing involvement of each artist. The album is the end result of multiple deliberate and dedicated recording sessions done with the willing participation and consent of Mr. Coleman and the other performers.' If they did not know to make sure to do all the legal paperwork with Denardo, with the specific financial details clearly spelled out, then they were hopelessly naïve. If they did and the lawsuit contradicts what the signed agreement said, then they may not be at fault. But it could also be that there was a contract and they did not stick to what was agreed upon. Hard to tell what kind of 'consent' they got from Ornette. if it was just oral, then they goofed big time. Ornette could well have said yes, but they needed a lot more than that. Ornette certainly would have asked for enough money to warrant a detailed legally binding agreement. Curious to see how this plays out. Bertrand.
  19. So would it violate the board rules to openly request a burn of this :) Bertrand.
  20. The Smithsonian show was a blast! It was great to finally meet and hear Larry. See you guys in Harrisburg in a bit. Bertrand.
  21. Dang, I thought the two Harrisburg shows were the same day. Now I guess I have to pick one Bertrand.
  22. As posted elsewhere, organissimo had to be postponed thanks to Ted Cruz and John Boehner, but will be playing next Thursday 5/21 (finally!). The Take 5 series has been really going strong, and I am having a blast putting these programs together. In September, the Army Blues will do big band arrangements of Herbie Nichols music. Not something you see everyday! Bertrand.
  23. I will be at the DC show of course, and I also plan to hit the two Harrisburg shows since it's only 2 hours away from DC. How do you get tickets for the second place? I can't seem to find a link or anything. I also need to call them about their menu. Note: Smithsonian is not an encore performance, alas, it is a rescheduling of a show that had to be postponed due to 'national events' (think Green Eggs and ham for 24 hours). Bertrand.
  24. I saw that this just came out, and includes a DVD from a Paris concert I attended! 1) It's on the Arthaus Music label - anyone familiar with it? 2) Region Code is 0, so that works in the U.S., correct? Thanks, Bertrand.
