  1. CDs: ***SOLD***Goin Up - Freddie Hubbard (BN Conn) $10 ***SOLD***Pres and Teddy - Lester Young & Teddy Wilson (Verve Japan) $15 LP: Jazz Giants '56 - Lester Young (Clef pressing) $15 OBO HUGE CAVEAT ON THE LP: It has about a 1/2"-1" crack in it. It is listenable, however (in fact, I'm listening to it right now); imho, it sounds pretty good for a record that is nowhere near any kind of mint condition. Plus, the jacket ain't in the greatest shape: someone put a big black "X" over Lester's microphone; the top and bottom have some pretty monstrous wear & tear on 'em. In fact, right after this post, I'll post pictures of the cover and the crack on the LP. All prices include postage to US or Canada. International depends on where I'm shipping. I'm selling off the Youngs to help pay for the Verve box. Pictures to follow.
  2. I missed the episode, but isn't it a general rule of thumb that a "musical" episode is the beginning of the end? (aka jumped the shark)
  3. That just might make my funniest of 2007 list!
  4. Jeff, I sure miss ya, man! Here's hoping you'll come back soon. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  5. Awwwwwwwww!!!! Congratulations to you, the mama, and da baby! It looks like she already has a little baby earpiece; what is she listening to? Like Jim said, now the fun begins! And welcome to the Proud Papa Club!
  6. I don't get it. As in the last time the Iggles were in the SB. Lord, when was that????
  7. Not cool, Jeff. Not cool at all.
  8. Jeremy Shockey's still a dummy... I hope the Eagles go all the way, and I never ever thought I would say that. Win the Super Bowl as a big FU to T.O.!!!
  9. I don't know about the other games, but yeah, believe it or not, I fully expected the Cows to lose.
  10. By losing 5 of his last 6 games? Sorry, if you had said Damon Huard, then maybe............ I'm not sold on Romo in the slightest. Romo had a LOT of help losing those five games; he's not the only culprit. How about Butterfingers Owens? How about that overrated defense? How about an offensive line with more holes than swiss cheese? I'm sold on Romo. Get him a REAL offensive line and watch him flourish. (As for the fumbles, yeah, he definitely needs to cut that out.)
  11. Amen to THAT. I just hope he's able to shake this off and come back strong next year. He's not the only reason the Cows lost tonight. Terry Glenn needs to be hanging his head in shame, too!
  12. Thanks!
  13. Oh, I dunno; I actually like the 1997-2002 remasters. I was talking about the issues of these two LPs that came out in the early 90's. Anyone know what those sound like?
  14. Happy Birthday, Marty! Thanks for sharing all the great tunes!
  15. Yesterday, I picked up Hubbard's SKY DIVE LP (extremely cheap); tonight I discovered the CD (which I don't have) has two extra cuts from the same session. Question: how is the CD sound of SKY DIVE (as well as FIRST LIGHT)? Good enough to justify getting the CD for the extra cuts? Or should I stick to the vinyl and keep looking for FIRST LIGHT on vinyl (which shouldn't be hard to do, given the relative ease with which I've been finding CTI vinyl these days).
  16. The Cowboys suck, plain and simple. They've been falling apart all month, and the loss to the Lions was the cherry on top of this dungheap. What scares me is that there are worse teams out there than the Cows, but how many of them had the high expectations the Boys had? I'm still a fan of Romo, but it's obvious he still has some growing to do. Things oughta be interesting around here once Seattle walks all over them next weekend.
  17. I never liked this album, thought it was overblown and waaaay too long. Side three is probably the best side, but for me, that still ain't much. Who By Numbers covered basically the same ground in much more concise and less pretentious terms. Give me Tommy any day of the week, story and music.
  18. Oh. I thought this was a bop box. Have I lost the plot? What box are we talking about? I NEED something with ALL the early Ammons/Stitt material all neatly together. MG Yeah, seeing Jo Jones name on a bebop box does seem a little strange, but lemme tellya, he MORE than holds his own!
  19. I picked up the box a couple of weeks ago, but Christmas music pre-empted my listening of it. I'll probably have more to add later, but I'm really digging the medium-sized groups, especially the ones with Gene Ammons. Having three takes of "Blues Up and Down" with the great Jo Jones on drums is just a little slice of heaven!
  20. I'm listening to it right now, and I can't hear any similarities, neither in rhythm nor structure. But I COMPLETELY agree about how "Hank's Other Soul" brings to mind "It Ain't Necessarily So." In fact, I hadn't really noticed until you mentioned it. Good call!
  21. Nah, that's just the vehicle for the real argument, which is that they each think that the other one is an asshole. Or maybe the real argument is which white guy is closer to the "black experience" than the other white guy. -_-
  22. Meanwhile, GREY'S ANATOMY (as blatant a SCRUBS ripoff as the next ABC ER dramedy, can't remember the name, but the only difference between it and SCRUBS is merely the name and the cast) continues to top the ratings on a regular basis. No justice, I'm tellin' ya!
