Because he likes it. I know deep jazzers like us get all offended when someone likes pop music, or god forbids makes pop music. Herbie has said and shown many times that he enjoys making pop music. He just did a couple years of acoustic jazz with the Directions in Music band, so now he wants to make his pop record.

Any comments on the music from those who have heard it? We might as well get people more excited about it!

Ive been LOVING having the free pass. Ive been able to catch a couple Pistons games while im stuck in philly. 170 is way too steep, plus there are alot better thing i can do with my time.

The top 3 teams in the east will absolutely beat any west team besides the Spurs.

Pistons continue to dominate. An absolute thrashing of the Raps with strong showing from the Carlos's. I still think the only reason they didnt win last year was Larry's refusal to use the bench, during the season or the playoffs. Doesnt look like that will be an issue this year.

Loved Coffee & Cigarettes (with Bill Murray, Tom Waits, Steven Wright, the Wu-Tang Clan and others) and still need to see Broken flowers. Down By Law is also great. Considering so much of his work is an exporation of boredom, his movies sure are interesting.

You would figure these people would know what a Braxton show was. That being said I was a bit underwhlemed at moments. Obviously when you teeter on the edge like he does, there is a fine line between noise and greatness. I think it was often on the noise side. But there were several great moments, many of them provided by Taylor Ho Bynum. And obviously Braxton's playing was very good.

Keith Jarrett - Radiance now available. Also, I just got a warning for Jimmy Smith - Rockin the Boat, Ready for Freddie, and Duke's Blues in Orbit, so if you want those pick it up soon. Are any of those essential? I dont have much Duke, so I figure I should pick some cheap ones up.

I know the words to a couple Ashlee Simpson tunes. Beat that!

How did I not know about this?!? Hopefully I can make it. Would it be too perverse too drag my girlfriend to the show?

J.R. Smith was their first rounf pick last year. HS kid who came on realy strong last year and had some very nice games. Besides Dorrell Wright of the Heat, that was a fantastic HS class. Hosh Smith, JR Smith, Al Jefferson, Dwoight Howard all look to be studs. Painful game for the 6ers. Hopefully I dont have to watch that crap all sseaosn. Im stuck with them now that I cant watch my pistons anymore. Luckily, they play Philly tonight. Should be a good game. Darko will get 10-8 and 5 blocks.

Today mine said I had to order Mother Ship soon because it might not be available. So it is now my selection for the month. Bummer on the Mingus.

Heard the tune "Today Has Been Okay" on Grey's Anatomy ast night. Amazing show and amazing song. What's the best jimmy smith on yourmusic?

Jim, do you do any professional writing? I'm sure this has been mentioned, but your writing is frequently some of the best jazz writing these eyes have ever seen. Maybe doing interviews and beat stories isn't your thing, but Downbeat or JazzTimes would be damn fools if they didn't hire you to write reviews or do some in-depth stories on some artists or albums. Outside of Nat Hentoff, you might be the best jazz writer I know. Still have to check out the album though. Iv'e loved all my Ornette so far.

What I find most interesting is that everytime I see spam like this, its for a band that sucks. On another board someone posted about Bon Jovi. BON JOVI!!!!! Also, as my 208th post, you guys should pay attention to me now

Darko with 6 blocks last night. The Pistons are STACKED this year. And, they might even enjoy playing without crazy Larry yelling all time. Should be fun.

I only have it on mp3 but the quality is fine. It was encoded with AAC at 128, the standard itunes. But if anyone in the states wants it send me a PM and I can do a B&P (blanks and postage). I think I can fit it all on one. Or, if you are outside the states or have broadband we can work something out too. Im sure, like me, everyone will buy a copy IF it hits the stores. Moderator, please delete this of you find this unacceptable.

Im even listening to it right now. And Its definitely worth all the waiting.
-
Its definitely readily available in the US. Just without any fancy packaging. Or legality.

They have to keep the price of downloading artificially high so that they can keep the price of cds artificially high. Soon though alot of artists will realize that they simply dont need a record company anymore and can sell over the net. Especially once these people are smart enough to offer downloadable booklets and tray inserts.

Interesting, but 15.29 per cd? Not really much of a deal there. In fact, not a deal at all.
-
i'd love to hear it. is there anyway you can send it electronically? do you use AIM or and p2p's?
-
Did ya know that they were still alive and kickin?
