  2. I bought this Sony All-region DVD/Blu-Ray player about 6 months ago. According to the seller a change is made to an internal circuit board that allows all-region capability. Software hacking is not involved. I am extremely happy with the unit- it will play any DVD or Blu-Ray no matter what the country code. Be sure to select the $40 option.

  8. Byrd's Eye View was recorded in a studio according to Tom Wilson's album notes..
  9. I think Charlie Rouse's playing with Monk was terrific. It was a perfect match. I doubt that few other sax players could have meshed so perfectly with Monk.
  10. Fresh Sound Records released "Earth Dance" (FSR CD-325) featuring Anthony Ortega with a jazz orchestra. Recorded in New York in 1956 with arrangements by Nat Pierce and Bob Zieff. Three of the songs were written by Zieff. As far as I can tell these 12 tracks have not been previously issued.
  11. The CD I have, which is not Japanese, has 8 tracks. It is Blue Note Connoisseur series 58289, copyright 2008. The tracks are: Smithville, Wetu, Embraceable You, There will Never Be Another You, Later 6:25, Au Privave, Bakin' (aka Tunesmith), and There Will Never Be Another You (mono take). Smith, Rouse and Clark are marvelous!

  13. Kevin- many thanx for the pix. Now how do I get the CDs?
  14. Mikeweil- Are you making any headway moving album covers to a separate thread?
  15. Are any of Bud Powell's sessions at The Haig available on CD, LP, or Youtube?
  16. Why are the Album Covers posts not in the Album Covers thread instead of being in Miscellaneous Music?
  17. I am using the optical cable output from my player going to a DAC, not the HDMI cable output. I think I am skipping the DAC in the player, which I want to do. Does this still result in an extra data conversion step?
  18. Kevin- you are correct- my player is the Sony BDP-BX37. Thanx to your information I was able to re-set the playback mode and now I can play my "Kind Of Blue" SACD. I use the optical output from my player which goes to a separate DAC and then to my pre-amp. Is this satisfactory instead of using the RCA cables?
  19. Kevin- many thanx for explaining my SACD problem. I play my SACDs on a Sony DVD player and cannot default to the stereo mode. Stereo/Multi-channel SACD for a Stereo-
