  1. What has happened to Jazz Forum blog? It has not been available on the Internet for a couple of weeks.
  2. Tom- any chance you recorded the Wallington session?

    Dan.

  3. Sonnymax- I have a CDR of the Dorham session. Contact me at hershia@cfl.rr.com if you are interested in a copy. Dan.

  4. How about Kenny Dorham, Blue Lament? 1961 Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
  5. A terrific Red Norvo session is when he backed-up Frank Sinatra in Australia in 1959. The session does not usually show-up in Norvo discographies. It was released under Sinatra by Blue Note in 1997.
  6. Looking for subject LP. Features Harry Babasin (cello) and Bill Dillard (guitar). Recorded 8/21/54. Please pm me.
  7. Has this 1958 or 1962 session been previously released on CD or LP? Could this be a new item in the Brubeck discography?
  8. JSngry- You did an excellent job of research. I will buy 1962 as the probable year. Now- has this Brubeck 1962 session been previously released on LP or CD? In other words is this incorrectly labeled 1958 CD actually something new?
  9. Come on Brubeck fans. Someone out there must know an answer to this problem.
  10. This 1958 session is listed on Amazon. It includes a version of "Take Five". My Brubeck discography says that "Take Five" was first recorded on July 1, 1959 in NYC and released on the Columbia "Time Out" LP (CL-1397). My question is was "Time Out" previously played in 1958 or is the date wrong on the Hollywood Bowl listing?
  11. Jutta Hipp died in Queens on July 30, 2005. She retired from playing piano professionally in late 1956 0r 1957.
  12. Please contact me regarding Hank Demano and rare books at hershia@cfl.rr.com.

    Stonewall15- located in central Florida.

  13. I bought "Music For Swinging Moderns" on Mercury label by Dick Johnson in 1956. My LP is long gone but, fortunately, it has been re-issued on CD.
  14. Looking for Hank Demano LP label Freeway FLP1- recorded in LA 1956- titled "Listen To The Hank Demano Quartet". Has Don Friedman on piano. The Fresh Sounds CD contains 2 Demano Freeway label LPs (FRS500 and FLP555) but not FLP-1. Bump.
  15. I collect CDs/CDRs of Savoy label LPs. I have 133 in my collection. If you are interested in seeing excel spread sheet that lists same email me at hershia@cfl.rr.com.

    Dan.

  16. American Jazz Classics has issued 2 Brubeck sessions, "Countdown Time In Outer Space: and "In Europe". Both CDs have bonus tracks, not a part of the original LPs or CDs. Can anyone source (date, place) the bonus tracks and determine if the bonus tracks have previously been issued before and on what CDs? The notes on the AJC CDs are not specific enough.
  17. IMHO either set would be very, very good. The big extra feature in the Mosaic set (and worth the $) is the beautiful booklet that contains several photographs, a good discography and an interesting narrative..
  18. Dan- I would like the Mulligan/ Farmer Stockholm 1959. Dan Stewart
  19. Supposedly Lou Levy recorded at Maybeck Recital Hall on October 6, 1991. He recorded 16 tunes but the session was never commercially released. Is this still correct? Perhaps if this session could be found it would be a high-light of a Maybeck box set.
  20. My OJC CD says Roy DuNann (3 N's) was the sound man in 1956. Also has Gary Hobish as remastering engineer in 1991.
  21. I have the CD. Very good rare music on the Jass Records label.
