  1. Happy birthday, old friend.
  2. Ten of the tracks come from this recording on Triloka:
  3. Manhattan School of Music
  4. I'd say yes, since this music was recorded the day before Coltrane's date with Johnny Hartman.
  5. Another year gone by, and another opportunity to thank the Grand Poobah for hosting this great board. The happiest of birthdays to you, Jim.
  6. And Maine celebrated. Only kidding, Allen.
  7. Don't worry. I've got my best guy on it.
  8. Perhaps, but the trio is playing Dizzy's as well on April 3 & 4, with guest Randy Brecker. Alas, no Boston dates listed.
  9. Any opinions on the sound quality of the Mosaic set?
  10. C'mon now. What do you expect from an Andorran label?
  11. Thanks for the reminder, Hardbopjazz. Dexter has always been one of my favorites. Time to put on "Soy Califa", crank up the volume, and dance around like a madman.
  12. A very happy birthday to you, Michael. Spinning this gem in your honor:
  13. Yes, you can see them all, but can you stream them all? Specifically tracks 4, 7, 9, 10 & 13?
  14. Grumpy cat agrees!
  15. Hey all. I decided to check out amazon's music unlimited streaming service recently. As an amazon prime member, it's only $79 a year. However, I've discovered that the plan is not truly "unlimited". Yes, you can stream an album, but sometimes not all of the tracks are available. For instance, I'm listening to "No Amps Allowed", a great recording by guitarist Howard Alden. There's 15 tracks on the album, but six of them aren't available for streaming, even with the unlimited plan. I don't want to pay for a streaming service that prohibits you from listening to almost half an album. My question is this: does Spotify's paid plan allow you to stream all the content in it's vast library? When listening to an album, are all the tracks available to stream, or are some tracks missing? Thanks in advance for all replies (even silly ones ).
  16. no link(s)?
  17. Anyone remember when John Oliver said Bud Light Lime, "tasted like a lime jolly rancher fished from the mouth of Mickey Rourke"? Despite this observation, he promised to chug a bottle of said swill if FIFA President Sepp Blatter stepped down (his challenge also involved MacDonald's dollar menu and Adidas JS Wings). Enjoy the hilarious results: https://youtu.be/_Csi_BEgL_U?t=12s
  18. Welcome to the often confusing world of the Cap'n.
  19. Congratulations on cherry-picking two sentences from a well-researched article in order to reinforce your misogynistic paranoia. If anyone cares to actually read the article, they will learn that co-workers reported many instances of sexualized, unprofessional and/or bullying behavior by these men over a period of time. You can argue that the lack of a horribly outrageous incident is proof that little if any wrongdoing has occurred, but it's this kind of chroic abuse of power and lack of professionalism that creates hostile work environments and complicity in the larger society.
  20. “There's a stark difference between the words 'prodigy' and 'genius.' Prodigies can very quickly learn what other people have already figured out; geniuses discover that which no one has ever previously discovered. Prodigies learn; geniuses do.” - John Green
